| Karen, I would go but only if the doctor OKs the flying. The last thing you want is a blood clot (trust me--my son endured that and its horrible). I would also rent the ECV, you will be in control and not dependent upon anyone to help you (the restroom, etc.). Hope you have a good and safe trip.

| Oh my goodness, Karen!! You poor thing! I don't know! I broke a toe just days before our 2 week trip in 2006 - it was tough and I had 2 'boys' to 'help' me. An ankle is much worse! I think I'd be most concerned with your mobility in the airports; I'm sure you'll be fine once you're with your friends at Mousefest & you have lots of hands to help. You've gotten lots of great advice - I'm sure you'll go with your heart and do what is best for you! ![]() ![]()

| I broke my ankle in 2 places back in 2004. Luckily I was on the walking cast when I got to Disney but I rented an ECV for Epcot which was great. They had none left when we got to MK so I had a wheelchair and my hubby pushed me around. Definately doable but the ECV was much easier. Rent from offsite for length of stay though. Airport personell are wonderful. You are not allowed to take the crutches through the scanner so you will have to hop if you cannot put any pressure on it but someone should assist if you can stand on one side, reach your arms all the way through and the airport person holds your hands as you hop through. This was my experience but that could have changed. They might just do a special wand search. Again I was in the walking cast by then which was removable so I also had to remove it. Good luck and enjoy the trip.

| If your are going to rent a wheelchair, I would definetly get one from offsite. One with foot rests. The ones in the parks are far from comfortable, believe me. We rented in 2000 when my ankles swelled up and those chairs were not comfy. After 2 days, I decided I would rather walk with swollen ankles. Fortunately most of the swelling had gone down by then. I'm sure you can find much more comfortable transport offsite. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

| So sorry this happened! Karen, you HAVE to go! I know of three other ladies who will probably drink themselves into jail if you don't. You don't want THAT on your conscience, do you? Seriously, though . . . when do you get in? I'll be in the airport on the 10th, & if there's ANYTHING I can do to help (both that day & any during the trip), just let me know!

| If we see you we will be happy to give your WC 'motor' (two legged type) a break. But I would get something to rest in WC or ECV ![]()

| Another thing, make sure you have plenty of warm clothing, a fleecy throw for over your legs plus a cushion if you opt for a wheelchair. All to keep you warm and comfortable. Good luck!

| ![]() ![]() I'd call them to see if they can accomodate you in an accessible room. As far as traveling goes, the airline carriers are pretty good about helping people around the airport.... when you check-in at the gate, tell them you'll need a cart upon your arrival and they'll be able to radio ahead for one at your destination airport.

| Thank you everyone for the good wishes and fabulous advice. Unfortunately, the orthopedic surgeon told me "absolutely no flying for the next month." So, the CLQ will be without its viola next weekend. On the bright side, I can totally make up stories about them that they can't refute for a few days!

| <<Please excuse the sound of uncontrollable weeping!>> Well, I'd much rather have you safe and sound and around for another squillion trips than have you risk anything by flying. But, I'm still sad and pouty and feel like I've swallowed a hot mitten. <<sigh>> Eileen
