Ok so good news is I'm going to Disney World for the second time this year!! How lucky am I!!! Now I have tons of questions, because I have never been during Oct/Nov.
Mickey's not so scary Halloween party:
Questions...
1. Is it worth the extra money?
2. How much is it?
3. Would a 5 year be scared?
4. When can you get these tickets? or is it something you add to your package?
5. and finally please tell me your experiences or any other tips, or details about this subject

I love MNSSHP, it is fantastic and a Do not miss when I go at that time. Which I have the past 3 years. I love it so much matter of fact I usually go twice during my trip.

I definatly think it is worth the money, I love Mickeys boo to you parade, the music is the best. The fireworks "Hallowishes" is Awesome and again, great music.

No, I don't think a 5 year old would be scared, there are lots of little ones that age and younger at the parties.

If I remember correctly the tickets are like $54.99 for adults. Not sure abouch children since I have no kids.

There are spots where you can have pictures taken and of course there is the trick or treating. Adults as well as the kids are welcome to trick or treat. They pass out halloween bags at the entrance.

I say definatly go and enjoy!!

We've been twice and I would say it's soooo worth the extra money. My favorite part of the night is the parade, love the headless horsemen! I've taken DD at age 5 and she loved it. I can't even say that I saw any scary costumes. The lines for the rides are shorter, DD loved the trick or treating and I loved dressing up! One year DD (who was 5 at the time) was snow white and i was the evil queen. The next time we went 2nd DD was 14 months and I dressed her up like a puppy. I was of course, Cruella. All night the cast members kept trying to "save" my puppy. It was sooo much fun and I highly recommend it!

This I definately know about, I went for my birthday to this every year til I moved away and missed the 2007 but made it back in 2008. Also My last CM role at WDW was at MK doing custodial work on Main street and restrooms around the park. I worked many a night during MNSSHP. (I LOVED IT)

There is plenty of places for kids and adults (yes, I did it too) to go trick or treating. Everyone in my group dresses up in costume. Certain rides are open HM, PofC, PPF, PhM and the such. We found the best place to view the parade is sitting on the rocking chairs in front of the shops and restuarants near Frontierland/Liberty square. Must arrive 20 to 30 mins before the parade starts to get one of these seats. The best place to see the fireworks is standing on oneof the pathways between Tomorrowland and Main ST. (Usually less crowded in these areas.) Best Photo to have taken by Disney is in front of Haunted Mansion where they add a ghostly coachman in your picture. The line for this photo is usually a lot shorter then for other photo locations. Tuesdays are the least crowded days to attend this event. Thurs. are usually the most crowded.

For those of you who have kids/adults that want to trick or treat here is a tip you may find very useful. Ride the rides first then towards the end of the evening do the trick or treating as most guests have already done theirs and are riding the rides or left the park because the kids have a tummy ache from all the candy they have eaten. You can walk through to each treat giver instead of waiting in line for 20+ Mins. in each location.

I have not seen any 5 yo that was scared. This is what I use to tell guests only you can be the judge of wheather or not something will frighten your child because not all children react the same way.

This event is sold separately from any of the olans but you can purchase before you go. (Highly recomended.) I am fortunate as I go with CM family members who purchase the tickets at a discount.

1. Absolutely! If you love the characters, this is the best time to see the rarest characters that are NEVER out, and some of the favorites in their Halloween costumes. Plus, you can trick or treat!

2. If you buy tickets in advance, they're $48.95 for adults (10 & up) and $42.95 for kids (3-9). If you buy the tix at the gate, they're $59.95 & $49.95, respectively. However, I just read online that Advance sales pricing is available for all events except Sept. 19, 26, Oct. 3, 10, 16, 23, 24, 26, 30 and 31.

3. The only thing that might scare a 5 y.o. would be the ride of the Headless Horseman. He comes galloping down Main St; it's very exciting, but I could see where a charging horse ridden by a man with no head might scare smaller children. There are also fireworks - HalloWishes, and the noise might be frightening to younger kids.

4. You can add the tix to your package, provided they're on sale at the time you book your package. If they're not, you can add them on at any time, or you can just buy them when you get to WDW.

5. I've attended all of the "parties" at WDW, and MNSSHP is by far, my favorite. The weather is great, the parade, fireworks, and characters are at their finest. If you're going to do any of them, MNSSHP is the one I'd attend above all others. Try not to stress about the trick or treating, or seeing all the characters. Not-to-miss are HalloWishes and the parade, as well as the Headless Horseman and the Halloween show at the castle.

We LOVE Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party and go every year we can!! I think it is definitely worth the money. The special parade and fireworks are amazing, and you get a ton of candy, aside from being able dress up and just have fun at MK. In my opinion, MNSSHP has a totally different spooky (in a fun way) feeling on the night of this event. You know your child better than me, but I don't think a 5 yo would be scared. My DS was 5 the first year we took him (would have taken him younger, but he was 5 when we adopted him, so that wasn't an option!) and he LOVED it. We went with Dniece when she was about 4 and Dnephew when he was just a baby and they didn't have any problems either. Last year DS (now 7) and DH dressed up as vampires. At DS's request I did their make up pretty scary. I was slightly worried to see other children's reactions to DH, but I honestly didn't notice a single child look at him worriedly. In fact, when we went down to the bus stop (we were staying at POR), there was a little girl there that was probably 4 or 5 and when she saw DH she got a huge smile and gave him a big thumbs up! It was too cute. I think since so many people, including the kids themselves, are dressed up, they know that it is just another person under each costume like when they are trick-or-treating at home and they don't get too spooked. Have fun, it's the best!!

Does anyone know where these dates are posted? I check Allears and all they have is 2008 dates (unless I didn't look at the right info)

I think it's worth it. I can't recall how much it was last year, but we thought it was every penny - the parade and the fireworks on their own and are superb and not to be missed. I can't imagine a five year old finding it scary, as Disney are very good at ensuring it's not so scary.

As for tickets, they'll probably announce dates in April and tickets usually go on sale on 1 May.

Edit: I just want to appologize - the top of that page says Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2009

but the part with the information that I posted with ticket prices says "2009 dates not yet determined " However, even if they raise the prices for this year, you should still have a ballpark idea of how much it's going to cost your family. Typically when they raise prices, it's only by a dollar or two.

We went to MNSSHP last year & while it was enjoyable, we personally won't do it again anytime soon. That is just us though, We have 4 children (17, 14, 9 & 3) and I think that the age differences made it a little tougher on us. While we enjoyed some of the rides, the candy lines really weren't worth it to me. We liked the dancing & our group (dressed up as Mousekeeters) won a dance contest. The crowds were a little heavier than I expected too.
I think it was def. worth the money to do it once but it isn't something we will do every time we go.

We went to the party in 2007, and it was the highlight of our trip. I would recommend it to everyone! I don't think your 5 year old would be scared, there's plenty to do there that isn't scary, thus the "Not So Scary" in the title.
