Laundry question

So, for those of you who've done laundry at the resorts.....do you find it better to bring your own detergent or buy it there?

Just remember they do not carry a large selection of different brands and if you are concerned about sensitivities or allergies of any kind bring your own. We have done it both ways. I find if we are driving I bring my own because I dont have to be concerned about carrying the extra weight and can easily repack any excess back in the car without wasting it. If I am flying I will purchase at the laundry. It also can be quite a bit more expensive because you have to buy the det., and softener separate at a much bigger markup at the laundry.

Bring your own for sure. Don't know what kind you use, but Target and Walmart sells individual packets of Tide for $1. They may sell other brands as well. These are much cheaper then buying at resort. also, I brought dryer sheets in a zip lock bag.

We do laundry while we are there. I bought "Dropps" detergent from Walmart before I left (it was about $6 for 36 drops - 1 for each load - which is a lot cheaper than $2 per box of detergent there). Dropps are easy to pack in your suitcase, but they can't be taken with you in your carry on as they are filled with liquid detergent.

Bring your own or go to a grocery store on your way to the resort. The Tide powder was double what I paid at Walmart and neat three times what I picked up the same size packet of Tide at Walgreens! Whilst this few dollars may not seem like alot, any dollar saved takes me closer to my next trip.

I got a small bottle of ABC liquid from Walmart, after I was done, I just left it for someone else doing their laundry. It was cheaper than buying the individ. boxes at WDW if you are doing 2 or more loads.

I brought the sample packages I received in the mail home. Go to Tide.com or Google your favorite brand and they will send you samples. Each sample did 1 load and didn't cost me anything. Pack dryer sheets and the sample detergent in Ziploc bags in your luggage Purex brand has new 3 in 1 detergent sheet & dryer sheet combined. Also make sure to bring extra quarters with you on your trip, as the change machine at the resort was always broken and some guest even lost money in the vending machines trying to make change for washers. So, true! Some of those machines take forever to dry, so definitely bring A LOT of quarters. I brought my own detergent too.

this is going to be a split question i think .
i always buy it there for the fact is no matter what happends in packing i do not have to worry on the way down that it will break .
i always have a car so i buy at wal-mart but all disney resorts sell detergent also good luck on choosing

What a great idea on the samples. Don't know if Canadian cos are as generous, but I'm giving it a try. We always bring dryer sheets, it's easy. I can't save up my quarters so in the past I've gone to the front desk and asked. (Canadian coins won't work! Even on the rare occasions when they're worth more than US quarters! )

I actually have fond memories of doing laundry at CBR. A quiet few hours while dh watched the kids and I read the trashy magazines left by my fellow launderers. Dh suggested with only a week this time maybe we could make it through without laundry, which I did not support. Next time I'll have to pick up an adult beverage on the way. Ah, the things a mommy will do for a moment's peace!

Bring your own. I picked up travel size bottles of All at Walmart for $1.50. Each bottle was good for 2 loads. The bottles are about 4 inches tall and 2 inches wide. They do not take up much space in your luggage but I think they are 4 ounces so they have to go in the checked luggage if flying.

I enjoyed a lake side bench and waited for my laundry!
I will say that I (and everyone else in the laundry room) found that the dryers took at least one and a half cycles to dry a regular size load, just make sure you are prepared with quarters (But the laundry rooms have change machines)
