Re: Debit Card Question I have always used a debit card. It can be used anywhere that accepts credit cards. One hint, though, it is VERY easy to over-spend at WDW. I have to keep VERY good track of how much we have spent or there goes our bank account!

Re: Debit Card Question You can use a debit card for anything EXCEPT to give to the front desk clerk at a hotel when you check in!! We've found that out in NYC and Chicago!

Re: Debit Card Question A recent Consumer Report article warned against using a debit card pay for rental cars and hotel rooms. You do not get the same protection that a credit card has. [ 10-27-2001: Message edited by: Disnydad ]

Re: Debit Card Question For those canadians visiting The "Debit" cards used in Canada are not the same as those used in the USA. Our Bank/Debit cards are part of the Interact systems and the Front Desk at CBR was unable to process our account using a Canadian Debit card in Jan 01. We had to take money out at the SunTrust ATM then make the payment. It was not the same as the almost daily use at all stores, fast food restaurants, gas stations etc. that us Canadians are use to with out Bank/Debit card system at home.

Re: Debit Card Question This may be a strange question, but what happens if you lose your keycard (that has charging priveliges)? DH and I had wondered about this during our last trip. Because of this we specifically used our American Express because it offers purchase protection. Would a debit card offer any protection, or would WDW absorb the loss if someone went on a spending spree with a lost card (you could do a lot of damage in Downtown Disney!). Just wondering.

Re: Debit Card Question I lost my key card with the charging privileges a few years ago. I was staying at Dixie Landing, went to the pool with my book. My key was my bookmark. Well it slipped out and by the time I realized it was gone about 25 mins had passed. I had just come out of the pool dripping wet,to read my book and couldn't find it. I put on my T-shirt. I didn't bother wearing shoes to the pool because we were so close. So there I go to the check-in area, no shoes, wet and just a little T-shirt on!!!! The CM asked me for some ID. I just looked at her, then she noticed how I was dressed and laughed. As soon as I told her I lost the card (she asked which number it was, it was #1 out of 5), it was immediately deactivated. I had to answer a few questions, how long we are staying, what room #, what’s my home address, stuff like that. And with that I got my new card. As soon as you tell them you lost your card the CM pushes a few buttons and it no longer works.
