What to take into the parks I was wondering if someone here could help me out? I thought I remembered reading awhile back a thread on what people take in their backpacks into the parks. I can't seem to find that thread. Could someone direct me to it, or, if it is easier, give me some suggestions on things to carry with me?!? It is always the obvious things that I seem to forget. Thanks in advance!!!

Re: What to take into the parks Personally I think it depends on who is in your group. If you have little kids you probably want juice boxes and snacks. Try something like fruit snacks since they won't get crushed or too affected by the heat. I also like to have a small tube of sun screen and a lip balm. Also for little ones, an quick change of clothes if you think they will play in any of the fountain attractions like Donalds Boat or Ariel's Grotto. I remember spending around $8 at MK just to get my DD a dry pair of panties after a romp. For myself, I try and go light - ID, Credit Card, and a good suggestion that I've read about recently is a towel from the hotel to wipe the seat off with for rides like Splash Mountain. Oh- you also might want rain ponchos. I like them better than coats, cause you can really whip them on and off quickly. If you are going at a cooler part of the year, you might need them on the water rides.

Re: What to take into the parks When it was just my DH and myself, we took a normal sized backpack with the following in it: rain poncho's purchased at resort camera and camcorder (enclosed in zip-lock bags) resort mug ( with zip-lock bags to hold them)- we did this so that when we were at lunch and didn't finish our soda, we poured it into the resort mug. bottled water tour book lip balm Now that we are travelling with a baby: sunblock ( I had read somewhere on the boards that there are sunblock "singles" that you can buy instead of lugging the whole bottle/tube wet wipes ( for tables and chairs that get icky from us or others) sippy cups and snacks hope it helps, Linda

Re: What to take into the parks Maybe these links will help, both from Deb Wills' All Ears Site. What to Pack: http://wdwig.com/forgot.htm What to Tote to the Parks: This is authored by our own Jennifer Watson!: http://wdwig.com/tote.htm LOTS of great information. Neat part is, you can pick and choose what works best for your particular situation. Have a great trip!~

Re: What to take into the parks Since our travelling group is all adults, we try to take as litle as possible also. For the thrill seekers: No hats, headbands, etc. that could fly off during one of the 72 trips around that high speed loop in Epcot. For the sweet tooth: gum! Nothing knocks out Casey's hot dog breath better than Extra Sugarfree Gum. For the menopausal mom: Shower to Shower cleansing cloths. . .they are sooo refreshing and come with a little powder on them, so you stay dry after you wipe up. For the accident prone: a bandaid. . .many a time, I've had a boo boo and not had to walk to the first aid station for a quick fix. Just stick it in your wallet, which brings me to the next suggestion: For the financier: a credit card and about 20 dollars in cash. It is so much easier to charge everything to the room than to deal with a lot of cashola (not to mention losing a 100 bill on Its a small world out of your pocket! ) Something else we found really useful were our cell phones, in case we became separated and hopelessly lost. Oh, sure, our cell phone bill was atrocious, but at least we didn't spend wasted vacation time trying to find each other when things went wrong with the meeting time and place. Hope this helps! Have fun planning!!

Re: What to take into the parks Normally we take in: our camera and video camera, along with spare batteries and films poncho's plasters basic first aid kit (antiseptic cream, Paracetamol for DH, Ibruprofen for me, sinus tablets for me, as I sometimes suffer from that and I don't want it to ruin my day, indigestion tablets, antiseptic wipes and spray / cream to deal with insect bites) notebook and pen (for writing up my trip report) autograph book and pen In addition, in our fanny packs, we'll have our passports, driving licences, credit cards, room ID, money and travellers' cheques. We don't travel light in the parks! Cheryl

Re: What to take into the parks Water bottles (our fanny pack has two side pouches for water bottles, so it is easy to carry them) Extra film!!! Cannot stress this enough: You will always shoot more pictures than you think, and film in the parks is very pricey!! Sue

Re: What to take into the parks If it doesn't fit in my pocket or a small purse I don't take it. I like a purse that I can wear across my body but isn't too big, then my hands are free and I don't have to take it off on rides. I suppose that fanny packs do the same, but they are so unattractive that I refuse to wear one. Usually we only have a camera, money, ids, and credit cards. If its raining when we leave we take wear the ponchos, if not then we just suck it up if it rains later.

Re: What to take into the parks Last year we each took backpacks into the parks. This immediately led to filling the backpacks with things we might want. This year we were minimalists. Passporter Pouches, Water bottles with our free passporter straps, and one camera bag...that's it. And we were much happier for it. Sarah had a fanny bag, and kept our ponchos in it. I must say it was nice not having to find a place to stash your backpack when you got onto rides...I recommend travelling light.
