Stroller question

We're thinking of taking our sit and stand stroller (basically a double stroller) for the kids since we'll need one at the airports and around the hotel (CB). I know the buses can get crowded. Any tips when traveling with a larger stroller?

Re: Stroller question

I have one child, so I have never personally used a double. However, I have seen many people at WDW with them and they do seem very difficult to maneuver - particularly down Main St. at parade time. I'm sure this isn't the answer you're hoping for. Perhaps you could take a VERY lightweight double stroller. You can't take them on the monorail like a single (you'll need to fold it up, I mean). Of course at Epcot - with so much space- it would be fine but in MK, if it's crowded- I think it would be very stressful. My sister-in-law used one with her twins on a trip years ago and I don't remember her having too hard a time, though, so if you're used to it it may not be a problem.

Re: Stroller question

A sit and stand would be perfect. The buses will make you fold it up before you get on, however. Make sure you have a stroller umbrella though.

Re: Stroller question

I brought my sit & stand a few years ago, & it worked out great. I just can't bring it anymore because I need something more lightweight that I can manage by myself.

Those are really great strollers. ( after three kids, I know my strollers!)

This trip I am taking something that weighs around 11lbs or so!

Re: Stroller question

Barbara,
What brand and model was yours? It sounds like you'd recommend it highly. I'm looking to get one later this year. Thanks!

Re: Stroller question

Mine is a Sit and Stand stroller by Baby Trend. I actually bought mine from a co-worker but I know you can order them on-line or Baby Depot at Burlington Coat Factory carries them instock.

Re: Stroller question

I've taken a large double stroller....3x in the past 3yrs....and I wouldn't take a small lightweight one. We've never had to fold it down to ride the monorail...ever. You do have to collapse it slightly to ride the trams but not the monorail. We've just wheeled it right on. So I can't imagine that you would have to collapse your sit/stand.

We always enjoyed the extra space and I can't imagine taking an umbrella type. If you are going to do that you might as well not take one at all and rent an uncomfortable stroller from the parks.

We've rented the double strollers and really liked
using them. I don't see any problem.

Re: Stroller question

We used our Double Graco Stroller (front/back) last year and it was great. We just wheeled it on the monorail and that is where the boys sat for the ride. It was nice having the stroller for storage and because they fell asleep in it one day at MGM (unusal since my boys don't nap anymore). We were able to wheel them to the van, move them to their seats, drove back to Poly, transferred them again to the stroller and they never woke up. LOL We did rent the double stroller at AK once time and felt that it manuvered a lot better then our stroller did. This year the boys will be 4 so we will just rent a double stroller from the park. Ryne can't even walk for 5 minutes in a store with out saying his legs are tired.

Re: Stroller question

Thanks! I've heard of that and had looked into those a little while ago. I'll have to refresh my memory on that. I like the idea of the Sit and Stand because my now 4 year old is a walker...she can walk through Disneyland just fine. However, with WDW being that much bigger, I just know that she'll need to sit or be pushed for at least part of the time. My son's just an infant, so he'll be planted into that front seat most of the time!

I'm getting so excited. It looks like I'll really be heading to WDW for the first time at the end of this year!

Re: Stroller question

yup, I had a Sit & Stand which I think was made by Baby Trend. I think they make them a little smaller then the one I had,(the one I have was made in '96!) but I really got a lot of use out of it with all three kids, and I used the back on my son til he was I think 6 years old. I would still use now but I need something lighter ( as I mentioned before) that I can carry while at the same time having my toddler on my hip!

And as far as double strollers go, we were there ( WDW) last July & I actually rented a double for my older two, and brought my own single. ( I had a babysitter with me last time). It was so hot, that just having a place for the kids to sit was totally worth it. ( they are 10 & 7 ). What was so funny was of course my youngest wanted to sit in it!

If anyone ever has questions about a lightweight stroller, let me know, because I totally researched them last year!
