Calling all Disney Visa card holders

I need more info. I was wondering how all of you with the visa booked your trips? Received your discount? How long did you have the card before you got the discount? Was it worth it? Was the discount big? Were there discounts on other things in WDW? Anything you can contribute I would appreciate. My family already has ressies for October but they are at All Star Movie. I was hoping with the card maybe we can upgrade!!!! (Hubby really wants to stay at AKL) But don't want to go get this Visa and then it's not worth it. We don't use credit cards. (I have a shopping problem! ) Thanks everyone!

Re: Calling all Disney Visa card holders

Hi!

I've had my Disney Visa since day 1. When I found out about these discounts in Feb. I booked 7 nights at Pop Century for a little over $700. Then I canceled that and used my DVC points. Decided I didn't want to do that, so I saw these new discounts for the same time frame and I've now got the same 7 nights at All Stars Music for $659! Even cheaper than the Disney Visa! Both were for preferred rooms too.

If you have a shopping problem, don't get the credit card! Just be on the lookout for the discounts that everyone can use.

Re: Calling all Disney Visa card holders

I've had the Disney card since Day 1 also, and I agree, if you have a shopping problem don't get. The benefits are not that great. I tried to use the card discount for our ressies also, only those dates were not available and ended up using a AAA discount. I have yet to use my card, but I just HAD TO HAVE the Day 1 on my card. Go figure.

Re: Calling all Disney Visa card holders

Another "Day One" cardmember here!

I am very good about paying off the card on a weekly basis using their online account management
www.bankone.com/disney

You can also download transaction data directly into Quicken (if you use it!)

I like the rewards - $1 for every $100 you spend. (I know AMEX or an ING Gold Savings account do better, but I like the look on cashiers' faces when they see the Disney card.) So far, we've earned about $600 in Disney money and have yet to pay any interest fees since we pay it off constantly.

We're hoping for Disney Visa discounts this November (since we're not AP holders this year.)

If you are diligent and not going to let it accrue interest, it's a good deal.

Re: Calling all Disney Visa card holders

My wife has a conference at Disney this May so we decided to stay in the Port Orleans Riverside rooms. After doing a lot of research I found out that the rates with a Disney visa are much better than without for the time we are there. I actually booked the rooms at the discounted rates before I had the card. All I had to do was call back within a certain amount of time and give them the card number. The discount was $55 less than the rack rate and $10 a night cheaper than the other code discount that is being offered for that time. The only thing cheaper I can find right now would be for an annual passholder. If we were going to be there enough nights I would do that. But I would still use the card for all my purchases because I got 25 Disney dollars for signing up and we get 1% disney dollars back on everything we buy with the card. We always pay the cards off, we use them for everything and that racks up the dollars FAST. For those wanting to know about the card site you need to go to bankone.com/disney. But don't sign up unless you have a code for free Disney dollars!

Re: Calling all Disney Visa card holders

Hey thanks everyone. I have been looking and asking about code when we are there but nothing yet. I guess I was hoping the visa was my answer. We'll see!

Re: Calling all Disney Visa card holders

Hi! We got our Disney Visa so we could take advantage of the kids free program they had going on last year. I don't think it is offered anymore, but the deal was that you got one free kid admission per adult. So our 2 children's stay and admission are totally free. That and we get $100.00 in free Disney dollars upon check in. Then I found out you could use any Visa card you had, but you didn't get the $100.00 unless it was the Disney Visa. We do plan on using our points that we've racked up on this next trip, but if I were you, I wouldn't get a cc! They stink! You can find discounts for hotels if you just watch for specials and codes and things.
