New Here - Upcoming Trip Hey y'all! I just joined this forum after I picked up a copy of PassPorter! I'm so excited to find some people who will be as excited as I am about going to Disneyworld! This year we are going for Thanksgiving - leaving Nov. 23 and staying through the 28 - just 5 nights. It will be my 2 year old second trip and my almost 11 month old will be a year then - so I am anticipating a wild and fun trip with two boys! I've never been with a child that can WALK - lol - so I'm a little worried about them running in two different directions! Anyway - we are trying to decide where to have Thanksgiving Dinner. I am also wondering how crowded are the parks - I've heard varying info about the crowds during that time period. We are staying at All Star Movies this time - Hayden is obsessed with Toy Story and I thought he'd LOVE the big Toy Story statues that are there! The one resort we have not stayed at that is at the top of our list when the kids are a little older is The Polynesian. We did the Wilderness Lodge once when it was just the two of us - my husband and I that is - and that was a lot of fun! Anyway - I can't wait to chat with you all! Heather

Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip I don't know anything about the crowds at Thanksgiving since I have never been there but I have been there with kids who can walk several times!! I always worry about them running away too. We try to keep them in the stroller as much as possible and make sure you get some type of ID for them in the event that one of them does get away. There are dog tags if you think they will keep them around their neck or there are the kind that attach to your shoes but I can't remember the name of them and some people stick a label to the inside of the child's t-shirt everday. I'm sorry I also don't know anything about the All-Star hotels but someone will come along here who can answer all your other questions!! I also wanted to say to the boards!! You'll love it here! If you were looking for someplace where everyone is excited about their Disney trips you've come to the right place!! I look forward to talking to you!!! ![]()

You'll it here!As far as Thanksgiving dinner....I've heard great reviews for the Liberty Tree Tavern. I've never been during that time a year so I can't advise on the crowd situation. | Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip Welcome to the boards, Heather! ![]() We've enjoyed WDW at Thanksgiving and with all the great tips in your PassPorter and those that you'll find here, you'll be able to avoid the crowds and have a terrific time. Thanksgiving dinner - any sit-down place - will be at a premium and if there is someplace specific you'll have to call for advance reservations exactly on the 90 mark. We decided to skip a traditional / sit down meal last time and spent the day in MGM. It seemed like we had the place to ourselves as everyone else was in MK! We found that the crowds were higher from Thanksgiving day thru Sunday but tapered off during Sunday. There was a definite difference in the crowds on Monday. The All-Star resorts are great - my kids really enjoyed the theming of Movies (we were in Fantasia) and they loved the pools. Have a wonderful time with your planning! (And if anyone is interested here's the link to Who's Shoes.) |

Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip Heather! I'm so glad you found Passporter and joined the boards. Hope to be hearing lots from you! ![]() I'll be at WDW on 11/25! I'm staying at Pop Century for a few days and then moving to the WL. ![]() with the kiddos! I've only been with one critter, but he was 4 already. As far as Thanksgiving dinner, Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom just screams traditional Turkey day meal to me, but you may want something unconventional! All I suggest is 90 prior to 11/24(Thanksgiving) you call to make an Advanced Reservation at the restaurant you choose. Have fun planning your trip!

Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip Welcome to the boards Heather I agree that Liberty Tree Tavern hits me as well with the turkey and stuffing! I would definately get those strollers also. Far too much walking for little ones, and very crowded. Have a great trip!

Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip Hey y'all! Thanks so much for the welcome and all the ideas! We stayed at All Stars last time we went but Hayden was too little to recognize any of the characters. I really didn't have a GREAT experience at that hotel last time - but I learned a few things so I know what to do in advance to avoid issues with our luggage and the bus etc etc... this time we are renting a van - silly I know just to travel from hotel to park - but considering I'll have a giant double stroller to pack around and two kids that I do not want to lug from bus stop to bus stop - so worth it! When I came to the forum to check my message - I was so excited to see all the responses! Seriously you guys - my family has Mickey Mania for sure right now - I've even got my two year old to say DISNEYWORLD when I say where are we going for Thanksgiving - it's so cute! ANd it's driving all our friends nuts. Liberty Tree Tavern Character DInner - that is my top pick I think too for Thanksgiving. I told my stepdad he could choose where we ate at for Thanksgiving - but he has not made a decision yet and my mom and I decided we are going to make him pick Liberty Tree - I think with the kids - that is a great choice - especially for the character dinner! I think my stepdad was leaning towards Ohana's. My husband said he does not care - he wants to go anywhere that is kid friendly - that is his only request - lol. Oh yeah - calling 90 days in advance for the reservation - I have a reminder set up on my computer for that morning - so I can start trying to call when they open. I am so excited! Oh, Luv4My4 - thank you for the tips for identification for the kids - I am going to check into the Who's Shoes thing right now - that is something we really need. My 2 year old is very, very active and right now we are really battlign him running off - he has no fear of anyone and LOVES to meet new people - he has gotten away from me many times in shopping malls etc etc... so Disney is scaring me. I've even considered one of those harness things - lol - even thogh I've always sworn I would not do that!! I absolutely love everyone's picture at the end of their posts - I will have to find one of ours to put in my signature line. Hey Angie - you will be at Pop Century the same time we will be there too! What are your Thanksgiving Dinner plans? Thanks you guys for such a fun welcome!! Heather

Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip to the boards, neighbor! This place is awesome you will really love it here! There is always someone here to give you that Disney tip you are looking for!I agree with everyone else about Liberty Tree Tavern (this is a character meal) for the traditional Thanksgiving meal, it is , but be sure to make your advanced dining reservation (ADR) 90 days before you want to go! If you don't want traditional and would like to do a character meal with Pooh and the gang then head over to Crystal Palace which is also in the Magic Kingdom (MK)...be sure to make an ADR for this as well! Start looking through your Passporter and deciding what meals you would like to do and make those ADRs when you get down to 90 days...this is so important! My friend that I just came back from Disney with got her DD a "leash" type thing that she could wear while at the parks, what was great about it was that it was an animal/backpack that attached to her and the tail was what we held on to! It was comfortable and safe! She was always within arms length when she wanted to be independent..she got it at Wal-Mart! Good luck and post anytime you have a question on need guidance during your planning! ![]()

Re: New Here - Upcoming Trip to the boards. I have never been in November so I am not sure about the crowds during that time of year. We have stayed at the All-Star Movies and Nathan (5) loved it. When he is older we will stay somewhere else, but for now he loves the giant Buzz and also the Dalmations. For Thanksgiving Dinner, I would also recommend the Liberty Tree. They serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that is very tasty. Add the Characters and you have a great meal. This is Nathan's 3rd trip. He rides in a stroller. We have a rule that he stays in the stroller unless we are in a shop, show or in line for a ride. It may sound kind of cruel but small children get tired so quickly and it makes for a loooong day. I also know where he is at all times. There are a few exceptions to the rule but for the most part we don't have any problems with him not wanting to ride in the stroller. I think they appreciate not having to walk.
