What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? We are cruising next year on the Wonder and are looking at the hotels in and around Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach. Can anyone give opinions (good or bad) about beachfront hotels in the area? This is our first cruise (and first vacation in 10, yes 10 years - we have never taken a family vacation since we have had kids) and want to make sure everything goes well!! THANKS!!!

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? Well, I haven't actually stayed there yet, but we're staying at the Residence Inn. It just opened last spring, I haven't read a bad report about it yet, and the price was right!

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? We stayed at the Radisson Port Canaveral, and it was absolutely lovely! Beautiful theme (very Caribbean, put us in the cruise mood), not too expensive, they offered a nice breakfast and free transportation to the port. We are planning on staying there again the night before our next cruise!

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? We've stayed at the Radisson as well. Loved the pool, loved the breakfast, loved the shuttle to the port. We had a rental car and kept it at the Radisson while we cruised, so we could shop before and after the cruise. We also ate at Kelsey's Pizza and Pasta the night before the cruise, which is next door to the Radisson. Deeelish!

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? The Radisson gets nothing but rave reviews from all the people I've sent there. If you have your own car (drive down or rental) then the location isn't that big of an issue, although the hotel is certainly close to a lot of the nicer restaurants. We'll certainly stay there next time. I don't have any reports from any travelers on the Residence Inn, but Trip Advisor gives it 4 1/2 stars and the 5 reviews are all very positive and mostly fairly recent.

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? We just stayed at the Residence Inn a few weeks ago. LOVED IT! You could still smell the new paint, even though it's been opened a few months now. We had a one bedroom suite. Very large and very nice. The breakfast downstairs had great offerings (hot and cold) and there are a good amount of tables. There is also a common computer downstairs to check your email (and print out anything you need). I'd highly recommend this hotel. We didn't use the pool, and even see what it looked like, but that wasn't a priority for us.

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? we are going to be staying at the Resort on Cocoa Beach before our Dec. cruise - we got a good price with AAA discount of $120 for a 2 bedroom suite. It is right on the beach, has family activities and a movie theater right at the hotel. I hope it will be our vacation before our vacation. The trip advisor reviews are all good for this hotel. elaine

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? We stayed at the Raddison and enjoyed it. A wide variety of rooms to suit everyone. I will say that I had this impression that the Port was HOURS away from the Orlando airport. It's not. So when we go back in 2007 we're going to spend the night at a Disney hotel, have a character dinner and then drive down early in the morning. Have a WONDERFUL trip!

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? [ QUOTE ] Is there anywhere else to stay other then the Raddison??? [/ QUOTE ] There are plenty of hotels on the strip (Astronaut Boulevard). There's a new Residence Inn, a new Country Inn and Suites, the Radisson (those are closest to the Port, but we're not talking huge distances here ) There were also a bunch more down near Cocoa Beach and Ron Jon, but I don't remember them all. I'd do a search on Expedia or Orbitz to see all of them in the general area.

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? I too have heard nothing bad about the Radisson and while being able to park at the hotel and hop on a free shuttle to the port is a great bonus, I had heard you need to make a reservation as the shuttle gets packed. Is this true? No one here mentioned it, so it's probably not as big a deal as I had heard. Paul

Re: What pre-cruise hotel to stay in? Yes Colexas Mom... I know there is a ton of places... I was just joking... but if you have been there and checked out the Raddison, there is nothing like it at that location. And for those who drive, they have a great deal on leaving your vehicle. The pool at the Raddison is a great place for the kids to unwind (and the parents). And the dinner there is GREAT!! I hope this clarifies...
