Massage: On-board or on Castaway Cay?

My wife and I would like to book a massage. For those who have done both, did you enjoy the massage you got on-board the ship or the massage you got while on Castaway Cay?

I have had both a hot stone massage on board the Magic and a Cabana Massage on Castaway Cay.

The Massages are like night and day and both have reasons for booking them.

The cruise i had on board the ship was a Hot Stone Massage. It was very relaxing and the movement of the boat helped as to me the gentle movement almost made me fall asleep. The staff was very friendly and professional and following the massage up with some rainforest room was a great way to finish up.

Now the Castaway Cay Cabana Massages are completely different the view and the fact that you can listen to the ocean while they completed the massage. The one thing that I didn't enjoy about this was that we had spent time in the water and on the beach before hand and when i went to my massage it felt kinda rough because of the grit from the sand.

If this is your first cruise or you have never done a cabana massage then I would go for it. If you have done it before or you rather spend your time on the island doing other things then I would stick with the On Board Massage.

One factor for me with a Cabana massage is the weather... May was lovely with warm breezes blowing in... December the air temperature was much cooler and a heavier blanket was kept on my whole body. Rather a brisk feeling when the body part to be massaged was exposed to the cooler air!

Also, to keep Serenity Bay so serene, it is quite a distance away. We cut it very close with allowing enough time to reach the cabanas because, of course, we had just missed the tram! We spent a good amount of our time traveling back and forth since my family was at the family beach. And I'm probably the only one, but I like the food served at Cookies BBQ rather than at Serenity Bay. Watch out for sunburn after a cabana massage... with the amount of oil rubbed into you, you'll fry like a chicken unless you shower off and/or lather up with sunscreen!

I enjoy the variety of massages and treatment available onboard. Like Amy mentioned, the aromastone therapy massage is heavenly! You can sometimes receive small discounts for booking certain treatments at specific times: when you first board the ship or during port days. Many specials will be listed in your personal navigator or posted on a board outside the spa.

Either way, you can't go wrong. Both options are wonderful and a definite treat for the body, mind and soul. Enjoy whichever you choose!

Lynn,
Can you receive the discounts if you book early or do you have to wait until you're onboard the ship?
TIA,
Amy

Spa treatments are inevitably less expensive on shore days. Sometimes significantly.

I've only done the Cabana massage on Castaway Cay. It was really nice with the sound of the ocean and the breeze blowing.

I really enjoyed the massage on Castaway cay. My husband and I did a cabana massage. It was very relaxing. The sound of the water was great. I didn't do the shipboard massage, but my parents did, and they liked it.

Have fun!

Is this price reduction only shown in your navigator once on board?
