Question parasailing if you can't swim???

I am counting the hours until 12am Monday morning to log onto my disney cruise and start to book our excursions and spa times!!! However, it just dawned on me that DH and I both want to try parasailing but DH can't swim. He can't even float. The poor guy sinks like he's wearing lead shoes.

When we did the DCL for our honeymoon back in 01 we went to the adult beach and he drifted out beyond his head on a raft and I had to swim out and get him, hoping and praying he wouldn't fall off the raft until we were in 5 feet of water so he could stand up. From that point on we only visit the family beach where there isn't as much of a drop off and there's lifeguards around.

Will he be able to parasail? I assume they have you wear a life jacket 'just in case' but I'd hate to encourage him to do something that could put him in jeopardy.

Anyone know??

Para-sailing involves no swimming - I've been about 4 times, and never even gotten wet.
You can ask for a life-vest on the boat, and I'm fairly certain you can keep it on when you strap into the harness for the para-sailing.
We've taken our kids up with us, at ages 4 and up. We've also taken our paralyzed DD up - she sinks like a rock and can't do a thing to save herself in water.
We wouldn't do that if we didn't think it were safe.

Good luck! It's so fun to do, and very peaceful. although I get bored - I recommend having a sign for the person up there to give - make sure it's something BIG - when they want to come down - I wanted to come down HOURS before they reeled me in. (Okay, not hours, but it seemed like forever!)

If you wanted to wait until you were back in the "US", I believe they still offer parasailing at the CR.

I went parasailing (non-Disney) in St. Martin and I don't swim. I had on a life vest on the boat as well as the actual parasailing, and I wasn't afraid. (I have no fear of water, just never learned to swim.)

In the interests of full disclosure, I also wear contacts and was wearing swim goggles so I wouldn't lose one. I will say that the only semi-scary part was hopping off the jet ski that brings from you the boat to near, but not on, the shore at the end - because I didn't have a life vest on at that point, and (I believe) the water was neck deep at that point. It was also due to the fact that I had paid $$ for a roll of film of us parasailing, and I didn't want to get the durn thing wet and ruin the photos!

I checked out the prices for the parasailing at CC and I was wondering... is it worth the money?

I think it's definitely worth the money, even if I had to go tandem Great views, and a great time

We've parasailed twice on Castaway Cay and loved it. Disney requires you wear a life vest while parasailing. There is no choice regarding that. You get on the boat at a dock and are "launched" off and reeled back onto the boat. The only time you touch water is when they 'dunk' your toes just before pulling you in. It's fine even for a non-swimmer!
