Well we are getting close to the 100 day mark. I am getting excited. We have only done a 4 night Disney cruise so I was wondering about tux rental for the men in my life (DH and DS-8). I hate the thought of packing suits. Are there many in tuxes?
On our 7 day cruise last week, I would say that about 1/3 to 1/2 of the men were wearing tuxes. Another 1/3 or so were wearing nice suits. Most of the men wore at least a jacket.
My husband rented a tux and was pleased with it. It was waiting for us in the room when we arrived and our steward picked it up on the last night. It couldn't have been easier.
On the 7-night cruise, there is one formal night and one semi-formal night. We did see some tux's worn on semi-formal night but not many (probably wearing it again to get their monies worth! ) A few did wear the tux to Palo, too.

Yes, I am a Disney Addict... and I'd rather be cruising!.
if you can afford it , go for the tux. You'll regret later if you don't, when looking back at the photos.
I have recently attended a formal evening and the men look stunning in their tux. However either half of the party were not told that it was a formal do or they opted it wasn't worth it but looking at the photos it looks like another party has gate crashed the formal one. It loked very messy
The tux makes for a handsome gentleman in the formal photos. For the semi-formal on cruises, I frequently pack a very handsome jacket and some sort of really nice shirt. Last cruise (on RCI), one of the guys in my group wore a jacket and a very nicely done t-shirt. Good color that matched his complection and tasteful.
I have to say, for the cost of renting a tux you can often purchase one. Yes, you do have to lug it both ways, but it's amazing the number of events you can find to wear a tux if you own one and as many have pointed out, men just look SO stunning in tuxes!!!
We purchased one for both my dh and ds (16) for the Panama Canal cruise and my favorite pix are on formal night with both of them in their tuxes. And ds has already worn his twice since then! (Having high school formal occasions does help!)
As much as I'd like to buy one, there just isn't that much demand for one in Austin. Or we don't hang out in the right crowds. But even the so called "high society" pictures in the papers very rarely show men in tuxes. Now maybe if I was going to a Linux conference I might wear one. Or the Black & White Ball at DEFCON.
