Any word on what will be coming out of the Magic drydock? I will be on in December, but still want to know now! I know lots of paint and cleaning, but other than that, any leaks?

I'm not sure how much they'll be doing. I expect, at a minimum, they'll add a toddler water play area, similar to the one on the Wonder. That would leave the ships pretty much at parity. The only difference I can think of offhand is the conference center on the Wonder vs. Ocean Quest on the Magic. I don't think that's going to change. Will they make changes that will next be done to the Wonder? Only the folks at DCL seem to know.

Hi! It looks like from your countdown we are on the same cruise. I have been wondering the same things about what the drydock will bring. I really wish they would bring Photopass (or some such version to the cruise) but that is probably just wishful thinking.
I haven't hear anything any leaks either. But it is coming out of drydock a few days earlier than they expected. Because of this- they have added a 3 night cruise on the Magic. It leaves September 24th (Wed) and makes stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay and returns to Port Canaveral on September 27th for it's first 7 night sailing. It's a great chance for those that can't do a 7 night to get on the Magic. It's also when I am sure we will hear about all the new upgrades.
Moving to PhotoPass wouldn't require a dry dock. PhotoPass management has wanted to move onto the ships for several years, but photo services are in the hands of an outside contractor, and the photographers are not from the U.S. I suspect there are irreconcilable differences between PhotoPass and the contractor over things like, who gets how much money if someone orders a photo once they get home. Since regular PhotoPass prices are so much lower than the rates on board, PhotoPass would have to preserve that (higher) price at the PhotoPass site in order to keep every cruiser from buying bargain-priced photos (and CDs) online instead of buying them on board. Meantime, if the contractor totally loses the job and is replace by PhotoPass, then there are all sorts of challeges for PhotoPass managment, since it's highly unlikely they'll find many U.S. citizens willing to work on the ships under the typical cruise line employment contract (money, working hours, days off, etc.), and they still might have to price the shipboard photos higher than the theme park photos, depending on how much business can be done on board the ship.

We just got back from our 7 day cruise on Sunday (and I am seriously depressed, I have to say.)
I asked one of our servers about the dry dock- he said it would be three weeks and he will actually help with the renovations. He said they will likely be moving/refurbishing furniture and helping paint in the dining rooms. I thought that was interesting.
As far as leaks, we had a big rain storm the night we left Puerto Vallarta and there were some leaks indoors. They were actually replacing carpet the next day. My parent's balcony was flooded as well. So they might have some leak issues. BUt just on the inside- not any leaks to sink the ship.

Just to clarify, depressed from the cruise or depressed getting OFF the cruise?
I think we need details if the cruise depressed you.....
