| Manicure/Pedicure on the ship Anyone ever done this? What's involved in the manicure? I ususally get my nails done with gels, and I was wondering if the manicure part included just polish, or anything additional. Thanks in advance for any information!

| I just had my first Vista Spa manicure. Well, almost. I had scheduled the Elemis Exotic Hand Ritual with Manicure (before we boarded the ship) for two reasons: #1 because it sounded heavenly! When I got there, I realized that there was no way the polish was going to last until the end of the cruise (we were only on day 5 of 15) so when she asked me to pick a color, I decided on no polish. She still did the hand massage which was HEAVENLY and then the manicure... pushed back the cuticles, trimmed - filed - shaped - buffed my nails and they looked mighty purty! Because I didn't have my nails painted, it was only $25 instead of $40. I don't know if they offer anything else (gels or acrylics). I would do it again and might even try the pedicure next time!

| Sue, I don't have the tips, but had a french manicure done a couple days before we left for our trip this past June and we were gone for 10 days, so of course my manicure didn't last (the place I go at home guarantees them for 7 days and they really do last that long). I scheduled a french manicure for mid week so my nails would look nice throughout the end of the cruise. I just went with the cheaper manicure of the two. It was the 25.00 one vs. the 40.00 one. ( I can't remember if they charged more for the french manicure vs. just a regular polish - they do in my hometown). I was not happy with the quality of the manicure compared to the job the gal I've used here at home does. I don't get my nails done often, but when I do, this gal is the best and it's 1/2 the price of what it was on the cruise...now I expected to pay more on the cruise, but I also expected it to be of good quality. (She didn't cover the end of the nail part on one nail and others weren't evenly painted. On a couple of them, it looked like they needed another coat, they were streaky. I have long nails, so there's more surface to cover, but still, it shouldn't be streaky.) I didn't say anything because I'm not too into confrontation, but I would never do that again. I know I should have, but I wasn't comfortable doing so. For those of you who know me, you know I don't complain much on the boards either, so this is unusual for me. I don't know if this is true of always on the Magic or if I misunderstood, but I thought they only said there was one nail person on our sailing, that's why I booked it right away when I was booking a massage. (I loved the two massages we got by the way.

| On my last cruise I had a pedicure. It was ok at best. I have to admitt that I would probably not do it again. The girl did not speak much english so she was hesitent to speak. I think I would do something else and just treat myself the day before I left home.

| Personally, I did not enjoy the pedicure I had onboard. With no pedicure chairs, it was very uncomfortable for me to have my leg resting on the technician's leg or have her holding it up. Plus with no whirlpool foot bath, it didn't feel quite as pampering as a pedicure at home does.

| Hmmmm....lots to think about. I am having my nails done before I go, but I have a new nail tech and I am not too happy with her. (My old one moved to FLORIDA... ...maybe she needs to go work for Disney, she was SOOOO good....but I digress....) So I was thinking about having them re-done or getting a pedicure but I think I will just keep my Thursday appointment and look for a new nail girl when I get back! Thanks for all the responses!

| Can I make a recommendation for before you go? I use acrylics on my nails, but the cool thing is the acrylic is colored. Have you heard of "pinks and whites"? That's a general French manicure, where the tip is white acrylic and the nail bed is clear pink (to look natural). I do the same thing, except instead of white, I use a color on the tip. I didn't start doing this until we went on our cruise/WDW trip in December. Polishes, no matter how good, only last 3 days on me before they're chipped horribly. I needed something to last the full time. With acrylics, since the entire process is colored, there is no chipping. Even if you gouge your nail (ouch! And - something I've done while chopping veggies), you don't lose the color. I've kept my nails ever since and get them filled every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. I then find a nail polish that matches when I'm in the mood for a pedicure. Now, I'm not sure if these colored acrylics are available everywhere and I'm not sure if you're diametrically opposed to acrylics since you use gels, but it might be worth looking into....
