Hi! My family is going on a 7 day cruise (western) in january 2009. We aren't very formal people. I'd like to know if it would be inappropriate for my daughter and myself to dress up as disney princesses for the formal dinner. Has anyone ever done something like this, or saw other cruisers who did?
It's very common to see younger ladies in princess attire. I don't recall seeing an adult do it - hoop skirts in the hallways might be a bit of a challenge, and there's also the confusion factor for younger kids - are you sure you want to play Princess Aurora if they think you'll give them an autograph, or to be in the same place as an official version of "yourself"? Still, this is a Disney cruise. Plenty of adults dress up for Pirate Night. The real challenge might be to get your prince to dress the part.

On the last MouseFest cruise the adult son of one of the regular MouseFest cruisers had such a great Jack Sparrow "look" on Pirate Night that more than a few kids thought he was the real deal. He had fun playing along.
At the theme parks, Disney is very aware of the "confusion" issue, and has rules they can invoke if an adult shows up dressed as a character (it's made the news once or twice).
