Idea for Bringing Wine On Board

I saw something in the store yesterday that I thought was a little clever and would totally work for bringing wine on board. This probably won't be good for wine snobs though. Vendage brand sells some wine in little containers that look like small milk cartons. Each one is roughly 3 glasses of wine at $4/container. They have a screw top so there's no need to worry about a cork screw. The size is perfect to carry on board in your day bag and store in the little fridge also there's no glass bottle to worry about. I think you have to have an open mind about a product like this. It's not your top shelf wine but then again this seems to be a convenient way to enjoy a glass or so in the stateroom before enjoying something a little nicer at dinner.

Great tip... i think you are referring to a "tetra pack" . They are the latest ecofriendly addition to the wine world. They usually come in 1 liter and sometime 1/2 liter boxes. The only problem with them is that the selection of wine is very limited. I hope they catch on and become more mainstream.

Tetra pack (aka "brick pack") isn't friendly to all food types. A real fat red (say a good cab) doesn't hold up as well due to the tanins. Also, although I can't say for certain, part of the processing involves a form of heating similar to pasteurization. Parmalatt may be long gone, but "their milk" remains.
