| Cost of 2010 northern europe cruises compared to other lines WE went on 1 4nt cruise with DCL -our first cruise- and loved it. But we have nothing to compare it to. WE prebooked for our next cruise to get the discount. We would love to do the 12 nt northern europe cruise - our kids would be 11,13,14. It is very expensive but my impression was that all cruises to that area were pricey. Going to the mediterranean would be less expensive but I think that is an area you can do more easier on your own or with other tours at lower prices. Is the northern europe cruise way overpriced - looking for feedback ofr anyone that has gone to the area. For a family of 5 - $$$$! Should we look at other cruise lines and just go to the mediterranean with DCL? My heart is to the north as we have never been and it is expensive however you go from what I can tell. Help!! |

| I did some research a few weeks ago into very similar cruises for that area. Seven night cruises (not 12 night) were running at somewhere between £900 - £1200, which at current exchange rates is about $1500 - $2100, if that gives you something to compare against...

| You pay a premium for Disney, no question. Is it worth it? In my opinion, absolutely! The Disney difference and onboard experience is completely unique in the cruising industry. While there are some great cruise lines that do similar itineraries (Royal Caribbean, Princess, etc.) I think the level of attention to detail and customer service is what sets DCL apart.

| While I haven't done the European cruises, I just feel that the Disney experience is unique and first rate. I think that's why Disney ranks as Travel & Leisure's #3 cruise line in general and 1st in family cruising. They definitely see the need for first rate family cruising/vacationing and are delivering it. I'll agree that it does come with a price tag and maybe they'll be able to be a little more price competitive in the future given the state of the economy etc.

| I would agree that Disney is worth it. This is why I'm considering doing it, even though it is so much money. We've had amazing cruises with them before and, pricey as they are, they are very much worth it. ![]()

| Well, the prices I'm seeing are pretty consistent with Celebrity's prices. And, over the years, "equivalent" DCL and Celebrity itineraries have been priced near each other. With DCL, you get THE number one family program. Which is probably most important to most people here. I can get a slightly bigger cabin for the same price on Celebrity, and I honestly think the food and service is better. But I'm not sure I really want to vacation with a bunch of people "my age". "My physical age", that is. You know what Peter had to say. We're budgeting around $12K for the two of us. I'll find out how realistic that is when I call. I have four "book me" orders right now. And one wants me to call as soon as I get the numbers. That huge explosion you here in "mid America" next week will be the Disney website and phone center crashing. I honestly don't expect to get connected when I try. But at least I'll have a toll-free number to call and a website that won't have more than about 10,000 people trying to connect. ![]()

| I feel sorry for anyone who has a Caribbean cruise booked and Oct. 14 falls on/near their 75 or 90 day mark! I'll be online on Oct. 20 for ours, and I'm hoping the storm will have died down! |
