| Disney Resort on the night before the cruise I've noticed alot of discussions about where to stay the night before your cruise. None of the discussions mention staying at a Disney Resort for one night prior to cruising. Is there a reason for this? We booked 1 night at AKL before our cruise. I hope this is not a bad idea. We rented a car and will drive to AKL, then to Port Canaveral, then back to WDW for a week. Any info, suggestions, oppinions would be appreciated. |

| For our vacation it was "just" the cruise - so no thoughts of staying at WDW. we were driving and wanted a relaxing day/night at Cocoa Beach the night before. We like being close (very close) the night before. Many people do WDW before or after so your choice is in no means extreme. But since you are also spending a week at WDW after, you can do choose to stay at the beach and in no way sacrifice your WDW time. So it is really your personal choice. You can easily drive from WDW to the port after your one night stay. Have fun!

| I stayed at a resort close to Port. It was my first cruise and I wanted to get to the Port early to take everything in. We also figured we could sleep in a little more then if we stayed at a Disney Resort. It was kinda nice being able to get up, eat a breakfast that wasn't too rushed and not have to worry about the drive to the port.

| We're doing WDW before and after our cruise. If we're going to go cross-country, we're going to take advantage of it! We'll be at ASMovies before our cruise, driving ourselves to the port via rental car.

| It's not a bad idea, but you're adding a good bit of driving time - you're going 20 minutes west of the airport the night before, and have to retrace that distance again in the morning - about 40-45 minutes extra driving time altogether. If you're arriving early enough in the day to enjoy your time at WDW, super. If you get there so late that it's really just a place to rest your head, why bother?

| We stayed at the Dolphin the night before our cruise. Well, for 3 nights before (we came in a little early and went to Sea World). Had a rental car, and drove down to the port on Saturday. Great time! We've also stayed at the Port, but we did KSC that trip, so we were in the Port area.

| Unless you really feel you need a car, could you use Disney transportation to A.K.L. upon arrival as well as to and from the port and then back to the airport upon your departure from WDW?

| Yes, We did this. We simply didn't want to deal with driving. So, we arrived the night before, took Magical Express to POFQ. The next morning, had a nice breakfast, toured around the resort & took pics, then boarded a Disney bus to the port. It was nice being in the "magic" even just for one night, and letting them drive. After the cruise, we took Disney transportation from the port to AKL.

| We got a hotel near the port and plan to visit KSC the day before our cruise. We arrive early though so we have the time to do that. I agree with Dave though, if it is just a place to rest your head, I wouldn't bother and would have gone straight to the port area for a hotel. |

| We came in the day before our cruise and stayed at hotel near the airport. We then spent the day of our arrival in FL at Downtown Disney and touring the Grand Floridian. Then in the next morning, we took the shuttle from the hotel back to the airport and took the Disney Bus to the Port. I thought that worked pretty well.

| Last year, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for one night before our cruise, we then got up and did MGM in the morning (it was early open) and left there about 11. Was on the ship by 12:30 or 1. The hotel rate was right and we the ticket to the park was already paid for due to a longer stay after the cruise. We did rent a car (which is the way we prefer to get to the port). |
