Question Opinion-Varandah stateroom with cat 11 opposite for kids.

Has anyone had a varandah stateroom with cat 11 opposite for the kids? We usually have connecting cat 10s, but would like to have a varandah but dont really wont to pay of two! Would 3 kids be ok opposite? Ages 15,13.12. Thanks

I think so depending on their maturity and some good ground rules. Not sure what Disney's policy is.

I have heard of people using baby monitors when they have kids across the hall so they can hear if they are needed. Although I don't think your older kids would appreciate that.

I would think whether or not the veranda is worth it depends on you.

We upgraded to a veranda, and I am so looking forward to it. I know that one of my favorite things to do on vacation is sit on a porch or balcony with my coffee looking at beautiful scenery, so for me, it is worth it! I know I will hugely enjoy it.

If you are the type who will not pay much attention to the view and if you prefer to spend every minute about the ship, then it might not be important to you. My sister in law does not care for either a window or balcony. She says she likes it nice and dark at night, and she'd rather spend the extra money on excursions!

So...think about what would make your vacation the most special...a private place to sit and think and read and gaze...or more money for other things!

We're doing adjoining but not connecting staterooms for our Christmas cruise. We booked very late but saved a BUNDLE! - choosing connecting rooms was not an option with the deal we got. Our kids are 13 and 14. We plan on having a curfew for them every night, where they have to check in with us before going to bed. Other than that, we'll let them have the run of the ship! They know if they cheat and get caught, they'll be sewn to our hips for the duration.

I think it does depend on the kids, and on how much independence they typically get.

As to your verandah question - we've had one once and loved it. But that required all 4 of us in one stateroom. DH and I have since decided that, whenever we spend more than a night or so away on vacation, if we can't afford to get two rooms so that we get some privacy, that it's not worth going. If that means no verandah, then so be it.

Disney requires at least one adult in each room. So, you need to book it that way at least.

Sounds like a good plan, as long as there is an adult in the room.

Enjoy.

Veranda Question

We think the veranda rooms are the best! If you don't mind paying a little extra, the veranda rooms are worth it. We stayed in a Cat 5 Deck 7 Veranda room and loved it. The best part is going out on the veranda when the ship is pulling into port. We were on the starboard side of the Magic/ Western Carribean and had great views of Key West, Grand Cayman, and Castaway Cay (the ship backs into that port and we had a great view) It was great at night when we could see other ships, listen to the water, and just relax while the kids wound down in the room. It is also nice to have the veranda to yourself without the crowding on the upper decks. We enjoyed it so much, that when we take our next cruise we are getting a Cat 5 Deck 7 Veranda room again!
