| we just got back. Yes they had trick or treating with lots of candy, cute costumes on both the kids and adults. Costume contests and lots of door decorations. I think everyone had a good time and yes we would do it again.

The funny thing is, it was Pirate night the night before (Tuesday), and I was AMAZED at how many people dressed up like Capt Jack Sparrow! We went on a Magic cruise 5 years ago and while we had a pirate party back then, too, apparently in the last 5 years Pirate night has turned into serious bizness! Anyhoo, on Halloween trick-or-treat night, we saw quite a few pirates... and I think those folks were going for a 2-for-1 costume deal so they only had to pack one outfit! lol One suggestion I have: Whatever costume you choose, make sure it's not too hot. If you are coming from cold country and are used to costumes that keep you toasty warm, you will completely melt in the Caribbean heat. Some really simple costumes that work well with the heat might be something like a basketball player -- a sports jersey, matching shorts, sneakers, and a toy inflaatable ball or something? Of course I saw many princesses and fairies, too. Don't worry if you don't want to dress up yourself; there were plenty of people in civvies (including us). Some of the niftiest costumes I saw were also pretty creative and easy to pack -- my favorite has to be the "Fantasia family" -- the boy was Sorcerer Mickey (he wore a Sorcerer Mickey hat, white gloves, a wand, and a red bathrobe). Dad was Yensid (he wore a homemade grey yarn beard, and a BLUE SNUGGIE for his robe!!!!! We think this was sheer genius). Mom wore a brown shirt and pants, and tied raffia grass skirts around her knees and carried a couple of toy buckets -- she was a magic broom! Very creative homemade costumes using things from around the house, but it was a great family theme and very cute. So much better than those store-bought pre-made outfits, I thought. By the way, one of the couples we traveled with had done Mickey's Not So Scary at WDW before the cruise, so they brought a ton of candy with them from the event. They put together a little trick-or-treat bag that they hung outside their door and filled it with candy all cruise long, and by the end of the cruise they were able to get rid of all the candy! lol Last edited by Lani; 11-09-2009 at 05:07 PM.. | |
