St. Petersburg (Baltic Cruise)--Royal Ball

I'm just curious. Is anyone planning to go on the shore excursion--the Royal Ball at St. Catherine's Palace? It seems very expensive but I wonder if it's worth it.

We don't have children but it sounds so wonderful. But I'm curious if many people will decide it's worth the expense.

My daughter really wants to go but my husband doesn't so I'm not sure yet what we will do.

Might have if my daughter was a little younger and it was not so pricey. At $1200 for 4 of us I can hire a private tour guide for the whole stay in St. Petersburg.

I thought about hiring our own guide in St. Petersburg too, except the Disney Web site says that we would need to obtain our own Visa's if we are traveling independently from one of the organized tour groups.

Everything I've researched says that cruise passengers don't need visas - as long as your tour company is authorized to do tours, meets you right at the pier, and takes you right back. So in other words, as long as you're escorted at all times.
What I can't tell at this point is how many shore excursions you'd have room to do if doing through Disney - since we're in port a day and a half. Think I may post a new thread on that soon.

That is the same question I had: Can we do 2 shore excursions--1 each day? Or even 3 if we do the night time excursion?

Hello
Don't let the cruise line fool you. As long as you book with independent tour group who obtains the visa for you you will be fine.
The night at Catherine's Palace looks wonderful but NOT for $1200.00 for 4 people. Our two day private tour is only $340.00 for both days.
We are looking for others to join us. If interested, please contact me.
Happy Sailing.

What tour organizer are you using? $340/person, or total?
And what sailing are you on?
