Last time we enjoyed the dinner at Palo. This time thought to try something different, the brunch. For those of you who have tried both, how does it compare?

I can't pick between the two! They are both amazing, and I was thrilled to get reservations for both on our upcoming trip.
The brunch, though, will give you even MORE FOOD. Lots of really nice selections at the buffet tables, and if I remember right, you are also able to order from the menu for a main course? I just remember leaving, and thinking I shouldn't eat again for a week.
The atmosphere seems more casual during the day since it is much brighter in there. So that makes it also seem less romantic.
I would hate to miss a chance for chocolate souffle, so not sure I could pick brunch over dinner. But if you've not done brunch before, then I guess I would say pick that (if you are only doing one or the other).
YUMMMMMMM. Can't wait until June 29th, brunch at Palo, and July 4, dinner at Palo!

I feel brunch was much better than dinner. So many selections, and a great variety of food. I'd pick brunch over dinner if we were to do it again, although both are great!
I agree with the previous posters -- both brunch and dinner are great, but the sheer variety of food at brunch was amazing. You can order hot entrees (such as frittatas and pancakes) as well as partaking of the seafood, cold cuts, vegetables, fruits, breads, desserts, and other treats on the buffet. It is a different atmosphere from dinner, but my husband and I really enjoyed it.
I really have no interest in dinner (not a big fan of Italian food) but brunch was AMAZING!!!!! Mimosas, smoked salmon, crab legs, stollen bread, tons of cheeses and pastries. . .the list goes on and on. And, as mentioned, you can order a main course off the menu. I had a flatbread that was delicious. If I do nothing else on our next cruise, I WILL DO BRUNCH.
Well, I think you should just book both! If I had to choose only one, though, I would probably pick brunch. I thought both were fabulous but it was easy to sample lots of different items at the brunch, where at dinner it's harder to do that without having your table covered in dinner plates! It's also been dark most times we've done dinner and I thought it was nice to be there in the middle of the day and take our time over brunch.
Dinner is more romantic than brunch. Also, you're pampered more at dinner, since your server schlepps all the plates.
Brunch is definitely like being a kid in a Beverly Hills candy shop, though. And after the other buffets on board, you feel like you're in a whole new, much more marvelous world.
Fortunately enough (for me), I've had enough Palo dinners that it's not totally impossible to make my dinner choices. I do, usually, ask for a half-order of at least one of the pastas, and sometimes a second appetizer, in addition to everything else... but that's usually enough to keep me from feeling like I missed something.
And, since I'm a Platinum Castaway Club member, there's no way I'm not using that complimentary Palo dinner benefit I've worked so hard to earn.

You guys are awesome! Thanks everyone for your input. I will definitely go with brunch this time; and if they have an opening maybe we'll have that romantic dinner as well.

We have exactly the same bookings!!! Just wondering . . . what if the night of our Palo Dinner is a special one on the cruise (ie - formal, or pirate-themed) - it will suck to miss out!! Does anyone know the schedule for the 12 night Baltic cruise???
We did both and would do brunch again ! It's nice to be able to see where you are. There is a great variety of food choices too ! When we go again we will absolutely do brunch !

We've done both and personally, I prefer dinner even though both meals were awesome! It's just that what we love most about Palo is the romantic, upscale atmosphere. It just fits better when it's dark outside, plus you can get all dressed up. For some reason, having all the food brought to your table (instead of buffet-style) made us feel even more pampered.
All of that said, I'd try brunch at least once so you can decide for yourselves which of the two you like better!

Well, I think doing Formal Night at Palo is better than doing it in the regular restaurants. You'll probably still have time to mingle in the Atrium Lobby, have your formal portraits taken, etc.
However, one way around this problem is to book your Palo dinner at a time complimentary to your regular dinner seating - if you're on late dining, have an early Palo dinner, then head down to your normal dining room for the pirate dinner (or vice versa). You may not eat much, but you can probably nibble a bit.
I don't think anyone's managed to wrangle a day-by-day dinner schedule from DCL, but they did get word on how many formal/semi-formal nights there are.
