If we decide to tack on a few days at WDW before our cruise, do we need to arrange for our own transportation to port or are there buses transporting passengers?

Disney does provide buses, however you will have to pay $35/person from the resort to the port. You can purchase roundtrip resort to port/port to aiport or back to resort (if you decide to tack on days after the cruise also) for $69/person. There are other options such as a limo or towncar service, although with just two people this might not be as cost effective. Others have also rented cars one way, or rented and parked at the port (probably the least cost effective mode).
