I can think of better ways to spend $400 for the day. While the seclusion and services are awesome, you can get much of that on your own if you are smart. We found many places on the island that were rather secluded, although it does involve walking to the other side of the island.

With two kids (2.5yrs & 7.5yrs), we won't be getting any privacy anyway.

The Family Beach cabanas (like the one shown in the video) are $499.00 for up to six guests -- up to four additional guests may be added for $50.00 per person. Serenity Bay private cabanas are $399.00 for four adult guests; you can add two additional adults for $50.00 per person.

There's no evidence that the rate changes seasonally. There's a difference in rate between the Family and Adult beach, with the family price $100 higher because it automatically is good for six, rather than for four at the adult beach (and the per-extra-person rate is $50).

To book, you can reserve them in advance online. They claim that if you cannot find it as an option, it means they've already been booked. However, I don't recall seeing them as an online booking option for the cruise I just finished (like Palo or spa bookings), but there were definitely un-rented cabanas when I arrived at Castaway Cay - a bunch of them. So... If you don't see them as an option online, give DCL a phone call. Meantime, once you're aboard you can try to book them from the Port Adventures desk. You can even try to rent same-day. There's a rental desk for the family cabanas at the Pelican Point tram stop, and one for the family cabanas at the Serenity Bay tram stop.

We were told that they are only able to be booked in advance by Concierge Guests. Everyone else must book onboard or at Castaway Cay. (Take this with a grain of salt as we were told a few things that turned out not to be entirely accurate on our cruise!) We rented ours at Serenity Bay at the Cabana Check-In desk. It was worth EVERY penny and then some! I spent far more time at Castaway Cay than I usually do thanks to the shade, cool breeze and sunblock that is provided! The water, soda and snacks are great. But the best part was having our own tubes and floats and coming back to cool towels fresh out of the fridge and dry towels out of the basket!

The cabanas come with a private hammock.

As to the booking procedures, it may be that the CM who spoke to me on board saw my Castaway Club Platinum status, and assumed that I had the same cabana booking privileges as Concierge guests.
