Hi... Wondering if anyone has any pics to share of the way they have decked their doors?
Also.. what type of items do you place in the FE's? Any pics of those to share also? I'd love to see whatcha got!!
Thank you! Pixies to all!
We love participating in FE Exchanges! During the first one, we handed out Christmas ornaments (it was a small group...8 staterooms...and we had verified all in our group celebrated Christmas) and candy for the kiddos. The second one we participated in, I made small charms that were put on luggage tags. In addition we put in the bags candy and small items such as stickers for the kiddos. About a month or so before our cruise I came across an incredible deal on custom made pens. Well, we had 80+ people in our group (which grew to 100 or so...in 30-something staterooms!) and the minimum order of pens was only 100 (and then they ended up sending over 120 actually). Total with shipping and handling for the pens? $27...I could not pass that up!
We have received just about everything imaginable! A passport holder, candy (some specific to areas such as Canada and Georgia), state puzzle, bookmarks (both handmade Disney style and those purchased from the giver's local area), magnets (again, handmade and local ones), notepads, pens/pencils, emergency kits (with bandaids, shout, etc...which comes in handy!), candy, gum, and just about anything else you can think of!
Gifts we received from exchange with 8 staterooms participating
Gifts we received from exchange with 38 or so staterooms participating
An ornament someone made for our last exchange (there is a hidden mickey in there!)
Fish Extender (I have covered names, such as when it was Mom and me who cruised...although you will see people who have multiple FEs for every cruise)
Pens I ordered from Discount Mugs
Charms I made (the luggage tag with charm were one per stateroom...I'm thinking for our next cruise I will do a charm on key ring or something along those lines and everyone will get one)

I love, love this idea!! Where can one get the Fish Extenders? We are planning our first cruise and I would love to participate in something like that. Any ideas where I can find a group to join? Thanks in advance!
Fish extenders are generally a homemade item, though if you look around, you may find some folks offering them for sale. The only community that does this regularly is DISboards, because of its size. They always seem to have a bunch of folks on the majority of the sailings. Other communities do this less frequently, usually when the community has organized a group cruise, or it just turns out there will be a lot of folks going. You can check our Who's Cruising and Cruise Meets forums to see if there will be some folks from PassPorter on your cruise. If so, feel free to suggest a Fish Extender gift exchange.

Thanks everyone for the input and might I say.. WHAT AWESOME PICTURES!!! Love the door.. love the FE's and ALL THOSE GOODIES!! I have some good ideas now for both in the event I do manage to plan some "fish extending"...
I was the organizer for the FE exchange on the WBTA (Westbound Transatlantic) last month. Since there were only about three of us on the boards here booked on it, I joined the meet thread on the DISboards and ended up volunteering to do this. We had something like 65 cabins signed up. It was a lot of fun and we got some really cool gifts. I have yet to go through everything. I'm still experiencing post-cruise unpacking denial.
You can make your own FE or buy one on sites like ebay or etsy. The rules for what to give are pretty flexible. We especially enjoyed things that were cruise specific (like those pens) or Disney related. Homemade/handmade items are always popular (love those charms - may have to "borrow" that idea in the future). I crocheted water bottle/can "koozies" for all of the adults (like, 125 of the little suckers), but I bought some little stuffed animals from Oriental Trading for the kids. I ordered some "calling cards" from Vistaprint with my "trademark" (a pink flamingo) and my name and attached them to the gifts so everyone would know who they were from. Most people labeled their gifts, which we liked, because we knew who to thank for what, but one of our favorite gifts was unlabeled and we still haven't worked out who it was from.
