Dream Stateroom 5552 Cat. 4E

Just received confirmation and stateroom assignment for 3-day Member Cruise Jan. 10, 2012. We've been assigned 5552, a handicapped accessible room, category 4E. I've been unable to find any stateroom reports or photos of 5552 anywhere online. Has anyone sailed in 5552 on the Dream? I would love some information, especially photos. I'm concerned because one of the sites I checked suggested that Deck 5 was not a good deck to be on: theater noise, overhead noise, nearby kids' area, etc. Any first-hand information would be appreciated! Thanks!

I can't help you with the exact stateroom, but I can tell you that we sailed on deck 5 on the Wonder and really enjoyed it. It was nice to be on a deck that had the kids clubs, movie theater, etc. Once you got down the hall away from the kids it was actually really quiet. And it was nice to be close to things.

I don't have info on the handicap-accessible rooms on deck 5, but overall, the category 4E rooms have been very desirable, as they have double-sized (or larger) verandahs.

5552 is adjacent to the balcony level of the Buena Vista Theatre (movie theater). I don't know whether you'd be likely to hear sound from the theater, but it seems possible.

Regarding other staterooms on deck 5, the potential for noise is variable, depending on location. When evaluating a negative report about a stateroom, refer to the ship's deck plan to see the possible cause of the report. Note also that you have to balance a potential benefit with a potential short-coming. Will noise or verandah size be more important to you?

DCL upgraded these deck 5 rooms from category 5E (deluxe outside stateroom with verandah) to newly-created category 4E (deluxe family outside stateroom with verandah). Note, however, that unlike other category 4 staterooms, these rooms do not have the round tub and sleep no more than four, and with the exception of 5552, they have the same interior space and layout as a category 5 room.

We were in 5546 in June on the Dream. We had no noise issues at all. we really enjoyed being down the hall from the atrium and the kids club - much faster to run the kids down to the club or pick up at 1 am. It was also nice being close to the restaurants and atrium. (our room was down past the movie theater. There didn't seem to be any noise issues with the theater or with traffic in and out of there)

The vernadah was much larger - even had a lounge chair. I have to admit we didn't spend very much time on there at all - it was a 5 night cruise with our friends and we were just too busy doing other things on the ship. I would definitely stay on deck 5 again - though I am not sure that I would pay extra for it under the new categories Disney just came out with.. . . . . . personally I would go for the larger stateroom than vernadah, but maybe that's just me. . ..

Cool! I have 5546 booked on the Fantasy, so I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any noise problems. I think I'm really going to like the location, and I KNOW I'm going to love the extended verandah.

I just got off the Dream and stayed in 5544 and loved it. Did not find it noisy at all and the service was outstanding. Our room steward let us have a peek in 5552 on debarkation day because the people that had been in there had already checked out. It is HUGE and the veranda is a triple. We liked it so much, we have booked it on the next cruise.

I'd love you to post pics since you have been on your trip now.

Have a great time.
