Would you do a bahamas cruise in Dec?
Hello Everyone,
Myself and my partner have not cruised previously and I am hoping to do a carribean cruise in 2013 for my honeymoon. But I have been looking at tacking a 3 night bahamas cruise onto our break possibly the 16th December as its very cheap..... as a suprise for my partner.
I know that the weather could be cold at that time of year.
Has anyone cruised in december is it worth it for our first cruise? do they have christmas things going on?

We cruised for out DDs Sweet Sixteen in early Dec. While we found it plenty warm enough to go about in shorts, we needed a light sweater in the evening, and all buy my DS found the water at Castaway Cay too cold to swim in. I think the pool water on the ship is heated and we had no problems there.
I also cruised the Bahamas in early December and while port Canaveral was chilly (there was a breeze), the rest of the cruise had beautiful weather.

Excellent sounds like this could be an option. Great to hear its still fairly warm in december.
It would be a Disney cruise so would get to see the decorations!

I've cruised often in December. No problems with cold weather once we're away from land and in the Bahamas. The ocean moderates the air temperature by at least 5 degrees, and the weather is based on the situation in South Florida or the Keys, not Orlando. It'll get chilly in the evenings, and if you have a cloudy or windy day things won't seem all that great. But if the sun is out, you can figure temperatures in the high 70s, and even 80. Yes, the water may be a bit cool - it'll be about 72 degrees. For folks used to ocean swimming up north during the summer (Jersey shore, etc.), it's about the same.

We're doing our first Caribbean cruise in December and we didn't think twice about it. Sure, the weather can get cold just about anywhere in the world these days, but we know from all our visits to Florida that it can just as easily be hot and sunny and you're heading further south. Anyway, just think of the added bonus of seeing the ship all decorated for Christmas!

Chez ... I'm shocked you haven't done a carribean cruise before ... I'm not sure why just thought you had been there and done it all
I may have to scrub this idea due difficulties getting leave but I live in hope

We've travelled to the Bahamas in december and the weather was great! A bit chilly at night and early morning, but during the day we enjoyed the pool and the water activities. We loved it! We'll return this year to the caribbean cruise this time of the year!
