Our first cruise was a 4 night to 'test' it out and see if we liked cruising (we loved it!) and if we had any motion issues. It went by way too quickly and there were numerous things we didn't get to do. I can't imagine how quickly the 3 night must be. . .

Nassau is not great. Unless you are going to spend the money to go to the Atlantis. . . . . My oldest girl likes to get off and explore the straw market and Del Sol stores (walking distance from the ship). We usually go early (less hot) and are back within 2 hours. My youngest thought it was cool to get off the first time we visited Nassua, since it was outside of the United States, but then she decided it was "too hot and boring" and elects to stay on board in the kids club when we stop in Nassau now.

Based on what I am reading we may wait a while longer and try to save for a 4 or 5 night cruise. I don't want to come back and regret what we didn't get to do.

There is nothing particularly special a out Nassau. We can usually pick up free wifi from outside the building so we bring our phones and let our mail load and then go back to the ship. Don't even have to go through customs if you can hit the sweet spot on the wifi I'd stay on the ship if I were you but you can always go and come back whenever you want. 3 night is a blink but then again 15-nights to me seemed like just the right amount

Based on my experience - get off the ship in Nassau!!!!

Our first cruise was a 3 day and it was enough to see how we all handled it. I knew going in I get severe motion sick and we did not know about the kids. It was also at the end of a week at WDW so we were tired. We knew if we loved it we would be going back.

The reason I say get off the ship is that we listened to everyone complain about Nassau. So we did not plan any excursions and instead hit the pirate museum and then back to the ship. We were planning on having the whole next day at CC. BUT storms moved in and the ship was unable to dock. Being from New England and it being October it was supposed to be our last beach hurrah before winter. No beach day for us which was very sad. Really the 3 day is all about CC. I really regret not planning some beach time at Nassau in some form.

So obviously if you have been to Nassau this does not apply to you. But on your first cruise, especially if traveling in a more storm prone time of year, make some plans to be out and about in Nassau. If we ever did a Nassau stop again we would get off the boat.
