How much would little ones enjoy a Med cruise, honestly. Besides the ship be fantastic. My DD would be 6 and my DS would be 3. We are currently booked for a 7 night on the Fantasy to the Eastern Caribbean, BUT now I see in the same month we are going, there will be a Med cruises and that was really what hubs and I were hoping for. This will be our 10 yr anniversary and on our honeymoon we sailed the Med, would so love to do that again but I think I'm not thinking of what the kids would enjoy.
Would love some insight on anyone who has taken small children ont this sailing.
Also, would I notice much of a difference between the Dream and the Magic/Wonder?? Our room on the Dream was awesome! Huge, we loved it. It was a Cat 4A.
Linny I have read all your TR and I am sure whatever you decide your children will have a fabulous time! Your family is so cute and I cannot imagine any of you having a bad cruising experience! You and the "hubs" are great parents and would make sure the kiddos are having a great time!
Truth is, the whole world is new for the little ones - wherever they go, it's an adventure.
We did the Med when our son was a toddler. It was a fabulous trip.
That said, the Med is very much about great cities and historic places. While some ports will offer excursions that will be fun for the kids (places to run and play), others won't. Excursions in many ports tend to the long side, so stamina is also a serious consideration. Jennifer chose to take Alexander on shorter excursions, while I did the more intensive tours (in our case, we needed to split up in order to experience as much as possible).
In the Carribbean, you can go kid-friendly in every port without feeling you're missing important sights. You'll also have more days at sea. It'll be easier to focus on family - there's just less competition from the surroundings.
To sum it up, the Caribbean is a family vacation, the Med is a family adventure.

We are doing the Magic in Med from 13-25 July.
We are taking our two youngest kids - 14yo and 7yo. The 7yo is not leaving the ship in Rome as we want to cover a lot of touring and it will be way too much historical stuff for him. Otherwise he will do every other port tour with us.
We expect him to have fun on or off the ship!

Awww, thank you. I so want to take them but I'm thinking Andre might be too litle to have fun while in ports. However Arnaud and I have always said for our 10yr anniversary we would sail the med again......

That's funny because Josie always calls every trip an adventure. I think she would be fine and really love the sights and history, but today I just remembered the bus from port to Rome was about an hour and also the Naples train station ( heading to Pompei) wasn't a real gem either.
I'm really torn, but at the age of Andre (3) I'm thinking we should just stay we what we have booked.
I didn't want to bother you with this yesterday. I was going to have you price it out but I'm starting to think we might just stay put and save that for our 15th anniversary???
But who's to say a girl trip to the med can't happen
We did the Med in 2011 with a 3 year old and an18 month old. We had a wonderful time. We took them on all of our shore excursions including the full day in Rome. We did not plan an excursion for every port but did a lot of wandering on our own. While we did this we let our 3 year old stay in the kids club if he wanted to. For our bus rides I just made sure to have games and toys to entertain them. Since we would have the same bus for our return I would just leave our inexpensive toys inside so I had less to carry. We found our kids were tolerant of the long days touring because they knew we would be going back to the ship for their Disney fun. We also bribed liberally with gelato.
Whatever you want Linny, I love to play in Cruise Line information I will live vicariously through all of you who are going to Europe until I can get there myself!
We did the Med. tour a couple of years ago. We also did the Adventures by Disney option and had a blast. One of the families in our group had a little 4 year old, and there were a few 7 and 8 year olds. All the kids had a great time.
One thing that I think helped over the regular shore excursions was that the Adventures by Disney tours are held by the same guides daily, and the same very small group of people are together every day. We didn't take care of each other's children, but those with younger kids felt more comfortable letting them roam a bit.
Following an umbrella around in a shore excursion may not be fun.
All that said, I'd do it if I were you! We never worried about whether our kids were entertained by what we planned. My kids love museums, plays, operas, symphonies, rock concerts, etc. because I love those things and I've always taken the kids to everything.
There is plenty to do at each port - even though they've changed the ports since we went.
