Birth Certificates

Hey, guys. I have a question about birth certificates. The ones that I have for my children are pink and were sent to me after they were born by the Dept. of health , City of New York. But while I was looking at them just now, I noticed that they have a seal on them but not a raised seal. Is this a problem? I am not cruising for another 8 months but I would like to start working on this now if I need to. Thanks.

Re: Birth Certificates

Tammy,
I have the same birth certificates for my 2 son's. They are just fine.

Actually, if your run you finger over them, you will feel where the embossing is raised.

Re: Birth Certificates

I just wanted to make sure that kids DO NOT need a passport - just a birth certificate with a raised seal. Am I correct? Thanks!

Re: Birth Certificates

If your children are US citizens then all they need is a certified copy or original birth certificate.

Re: Birth Certificates

Stephanie, U.S. citizens of any age don't need a passport. Birth certificates plus photo ID for adults, birth certificates-only for kids (more ID is helpful if the kids' last names don't match the adults).

We recommend passports for everyone, because there's less risk involved. The passport agency reviews the birth certificates and other proof of identity long before you depart, so if there are any questions to resolve, you won't end up missing the boat.
