| St. Maarten Suggestions - Tips? We're not doing any of the DCL excursions on St. Maarten and we're interested in Orient Beach, but open to suggestions. What's the best way to get to Orient Beach from the boat? Thanks for your input! Pam |

| Re: St. Maarten Suggestions - Tips? Taxi is probably your best bet. The drive there is pretty confusing and car rental rates are pretty high at the pier, so I'd only suggest a car rental to someone who already knows the island. |

[/ QUOTE ] It is my understanding that you can ask the driver to pick you up at a particular time and reliably expect to see him. Check this out, but be sure to keep track of time (and whatever you do, DON'T MISS THE BOAT!) |

| Re: St. Maarten Suggestions - Tips? The taxi service in St. Maarten is great (especially for the cruise passengers, they are waiting in the middle of Phillipsburg to take you wherever you want to go and if you make a deal they will come back and get you at a stated time)and Orient Beach is not that far away. We spent a week their this past December and we rented a car for 2 days and we drove around the whole island in 1.5 hours. I think it is about 30-45 minute cab ride and they are very inexpensive. We stayed at the Maho Beach resort and it was $8 for a taxi from Phillipsburg (30 or so minutes away with traffic). Hope that helps. |
