Disney Cruise Lines for older kids? I am still debating if a Disney Cruise is something that would be a good choice for our family. I am worried about my older kids (14, 12, and 9 year olds), as they don't quite get ito the characters and Disney movies and things like that. They like going to Orlando, more because of Universal Studios as they've gotten older. My 5 year old is still at that age where he likes the characters and Disney stuff. Are there any parents of older children who have gone on the Disney Cruise that can tell me honestly how their kids enjoyed it?

Re: Disney Cruise Lines for older kids? Last Spring Break I took my 4 boys on the Disney 7-Day Western Cruise and my kids were ages 10, 11, 16, and 17. All of them really loved it ! None of them really spent much time in the kids clubs, they just loved being able to do their own thing, like swimming, movies, EATING, and roaming around the ship. We ate all our meals together, and did our excursions together. My 2 oldest boys would hang out in the teen club usually in the evening while me and the other 2 (and my parents) would go see the shows. We ~all~ loved it !

Re: Disney Cruise Lines for older kids? It's perfect for kids of all ages. The freedom of the ship is a big draw, eating, swimming, movies are all day long. The excursions are age appropriate too. Most involve physical activities so they are not bored. The older teen groups do some fun activities and sports, great evening activities, and Castaway Cay is ideal with some of their excursions too. We spent about half the time with our kids (11 & 12). The rest of the time they were out and about on the ship. We did excurisions and dinner together. We had a curfew of 12:30 am, so I could get some sleep.

Re: Disney Cruise Lines for older kids? I took a 17 and 18 year old on the Wonder in June - they loved it. Cruising is a great way to allow the teens some independence, while still seeing enough of them to feel like you were on the same vacation. As far as the 'Disney' aspect - it is not overbearing. If you seek out the Characters, you will definately find them, but overall the theming is subtle.

Re: Disney Cruise Lines for older kids? My self 15 at the time, and my 2 brothers 13 & 11 at the time went on a 4 day cruise last Sept. and loved it. I mostly sunbathed and napped, my middle brother spent a lot of his time in the club, & my youngest brother was in between the club and the pool or in our room Hope this helps, Jesse
