Costa Maya excursions I just got my new Disney Cruise Line Passporter!!! I love it, but was wondering why no Costa Maya information? It is a relatively new port of call for many lines, so I'm assuming that's why. I was just wondering what types of excursions would be offered there? Thanks guys!

Re: Costa Maya excursions Frommer's Caribbean Cruises & Ports of Call has a small entry for Costa Maya. I haven't seen the 2005 edition, there may be more there. You can check shoretrips.com for possible excursions. Then there's always cruisecritics and cruisereviews for some personal views of the port.

Re: Costa Maya excursions I did a little research. What you will mainly find are a few ruins excursions, some beach (which you can do on your own) and some snorkling. One of the RCL ships (Grandeur of the Seas) had an "incident" a few weeks ago where high winds pushed it into the pier, causing a 50x6 foot hole, primarily in the crew's quarters. The ship was delayed two days while the damage was repaired. Passengers who wanted to were flown back to New Orleans, arriving a day early. The cruise line put them up in a hotel for free. Those who stayed on board get a shipboard credit and a discount on a future cruise. Those who left got some sort of financial deal, as well. No one was injured.

Re: Costa Maya excursions [ QUOTE ] I just got my new Disney Cruise Line Passporter!!! I love it, but was wondering why no Costa Maya information? [/ QUOTE ] We don't cover Costa Maya in the 3rd edition because it's not on the 2005 itineraries - the first scheduled DCL visit to Costa Maya won't be until late May 2006. Anything we publish about Costa Maya this year will will have to be updated for next year's edition, so that's a lot of work for a port folks won't be visiting for a while yet. Also, we had to add over 40 pages to cover the ports for this year's West Coast and Panama Canal itineraries. As anyone who has the DCL 3E deluxe edition knows, the book is already thicker than it should be to fit in the binder (take out the ports you won't be visiting, folks). As with Puerto Rico (which was covered in the 2nd edition due to a special itinerary but dropped from the 3rd edition), the coverage of the West Coast ports will be removed from the 4th Edition until the next time DCL puts them on an itinerary.

Re: Costa Maya excursions I loved our excursion on Costa Maya. We were on RCI's Jewel of the Seas. My grandma and I did one of the ruins. It was great for me, but she had a hard time keeping up. Costa Maya was my favorite port because it was just so beautiful! The water was so clear!
