Cruising Over Halloween Now that the dates are announced, my friends and I are trying to decide if we want to book the 10-13-07 or 10-27-07 cruise on The Magic. Any suggestions? We went on the Wonder the second week of October last year. What do they do on ship for Halloween? Anything special? Looking forward to some fast answers! THANKS!!

Re: Cruising Over Halloween We boarded the Wonder on Halloween for a 3-night cruise in 2002. There were costume parties for both kids and, later, for adults, and trick-or-treating for kids. We were actually a little disappointed in the trick-or-treating, which consisted of cast members at a dozen or so locations around the ship distributing candy. The treat locations were very busy and we gave up after a few. We didn't go to the parties, so I can't give details. I think decorating was limited on our cruise because debarkation/embarkation day was Halloween. I would guess that with more time to ready the ship, Disney does a good job. Enjoy! Melissa

Re: Cruising Over Halloween I called Disney last night and it sounds like they do a LOT. Trick or treating, parties, costume contests, etc. One of our main concerns is that one family in our party do NOT celebrate Halloween and I was trying to determine if they would be uncomfortable on the ship for that day. It doesn't sound like it. It seems like Disney does 'enough' to make it fun ... but our friends wouldn't feel out of place.

We went during Halloween for a 7day cruise on the Magic 2 years ago. My kids were very disappointed and we actually felt so bad that we went and purchased candy at the store on board which was REALLY expensive. It sounded great, but it just didn't turn out as well as expected. Here is some happy points and food for thought: 1) the food decorations and carved pumpkins are really cool 2) they do offer a map with different candy stations through out the ship which is fun. BUT, very crowded and 1 piece of candy per station so the kids got 7 pieces of small candy total. I would personally do the treasure hunt of Mickey's Ears that day by yourself and reward your kids with candy that you brought on-board by yourself. 3) there was a costume contest on the top deck, but it was so windy that day we left and just did our own thing. The coolest family costume: All were dressed as chimney sweepers from Mary Poppins

| We are going to try to cruise for Halloween next year. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Halloween but my husband is. I'm sure he'll have fun with the kids wand with the activities offered. It'll at least make it different than being at home, and are kids will still be so young.
