Hi all!

Just thought I'd take a moment to re-introduce myself, or introduce myself as the case may be...

I'm an "old-bie" when it comes to Passporter. Used to post and visit AGES ago!

Back when there were barely any moderators and there certainly weren't so many boards! It was so long ago, that I don't recall my own user name, so I'm starting fresh with bfth!

I think the last time I was here was around 2001...I remember posting a trip report from May of 2001 when we did a weekend at AKL (when it first opened).

Sadly, things went downhill from there -- for me & my family -- as well as for the country. 2001 goes down as a bad year in history and a bad year for me personally too. DH lost his job in 2001 (no surprise with what was going on) and has not been able to find a full time paying position since then (he does freelance work). My job and the company I worked for started to go downhill as well and things became very difficult.

Then in 2005, I lost my job of nearly 6 years.

Outsourcing.

Found a new job...hated it...found another new job...liked it...the business closed...was out of work again and struggling...found another new job and here I am.

All through this time, we had also been struggling with fertility and then adoption issues. Talk about stress!

Anyway, although things were rough in 2005, they were also good. I SHOULD have been posting here because I was part of the peer review team for the PassPorter Guide for Your Special Needs (and GREAT resource -- as if you didn't know). AND we "found" our son...or maybe I should say he found us.

I can remember that my husband and mother-in-law went out and did massive baby shopping on the day that I had my photo taken for the PassPorter Guide for Your Special Needs. I was working and when I came home, husband threw me a mini baby shower. He kept pulling things out of a room that I wasn't allowed in and giving me gifts...his catch phrase was "but wait...there's more."

Then in August our little boy was born. And just a few weeks later, the PassPorter Guide to Your Special Needs arrived on my doorstep too! See the connection here!

Any way... now that I'm reviewing the updated guide, I got to thinking that I should get my butt back here (thanks for the little prod Jennifer). So here I am!
