| new to this site I just found this site. I enjoy rubber stamping and am always looking for new ideas. I just joined a monthly cuttlebug club at my local stamp store. I am in Upstate New York. Have been watching the weather channel a lot, and do feel for the people getting the sever weather. |

| Welcome to the boards. I use to make rubber stamps. To get started here are a couple of ideas and hints to get you started right away inexpensively. There are hundreds of them. 1. Stamp and color inside the design using various colored crayons. 2. Cut different shapes and thickness of papers to make greeting cards, book markers, note pads, etc. 3. Attend swap meets, fea markets, jamborees, home shows and etc. Pick up literature, etc, for reading. 4. Check the internet using the search engine to words relating to rubber stamps. Check and write for free offers, catalogs, rubber stamp wood, etc. etc. There is a lot of information here. 5. Use glue (not paste) to outline designs and use colored glitters. Glue colored stones on your designs. 6. Stamp on smooth wood, cloth and other materials. 7. If you designs become dirty with ink. dirt, etc. clean with rubbing alcohol and wipe with a soft cloth. Use for name stamps too. 7. Now, important and important (yes, twice) when stamping with an ink pad and the design you are stamping becomes blurred inside and/or outside the design this means that you ink pad is getting too dry, so, re-ink the pad. Very carefully and very little at a time. To much and you really have a mess. It is better to add a little at a time to be safe. What is happening is that your stamp pad is becoming dry and to get a better impression, darker stamp. darker imade, etc. you are pressing your rubber stamp downward harder to compensate for the ink. On a design rubber stamp you are pressing the center of the stamp against the paper causing it to come in contact with the paper. Thus, making a smear. This smear generally looks like little cheched designs. Need more information? Papa Mouse
