| Remember Me? Hi, everyone. I haven't posted in quite a while. Ya'll might remember I'm the chick who planned the great-big-fat trip that was a combo honeymoon & my birthday for POFQ, 7-day Magic Cruise, AKL & MVMCP. Whew! Its exhausting just writing it all out. Well ... I'm posting this here because I'm not sure if I'm neurotic or if other Disney people will empathize. My friends who are not obsessed w/ Disney don't seem to understand. Basically, the trip was not that great . After all that planning, so many things went wrong. I won't detail them here (I mean my whine-fest won't change anything). I know at least part of the problem is that I imagined too much perfection I guess, so I was bound to be a little disappointed. But aside from that (which I know is just part of my personality), much of it was just dumb luck. DH was sick the first half of the trip, & I was sick the 2nd half / the weather was bad, etc, We took turns getting irritated w/ each other (me when he let our character autograph book get soaked in the rain & him when I locked my jewelry in the room safe, then lost the key). Ugh. Oh, and we both had a horrible experience w/ Magical Express delivering luggage at 4am then calling at 8am to tell us they lost it.....which I know is a fluke. See? just dumb luck. Anyhow - I'm just depressed & I feel awful. I LOVE Disney but DH "likes" it and won't go back for at least a year. (My solution to all this would be to just go back, like, hmmm... tomorrow). Have any of you ever had a less-than-magical trip? I feel responsible because I did all the planning (and yes, I know better and still tried to cram in too much), but much of it was beyond my control. Am I neurotic? Please be honest. |

| Re: Remember Me? Oh no! Wish your trip had been more magical, but don't feel bad about it - it was not your fault! My advice is to give it a bit more time - perhaps in a few months you and DH can laugh about your luck, and turn your thoughts to a fun, new trip! | Re: Remember Me? I'm sorry that your trip wasn't what you had hoped it would be. We had alot of problems with our first trip. I had too much planned (by the second day, Joe yelled at me that being at Disney was harder than going to work). We weren't prepared for how hard it would be, just the two of us, and two really little ones. A hurricane hit, and we had to go home early. Thank god we had bought annual passes in order to get a discount on the hotel (the only way I was able to get Joe to go back). So, we went back by ourselves (no kids) for a long weekend, and Joe LOVED it. He then agreed to take the kids again before the APs expired. It still wasn't perfect (Danny woke up mid trip with 103 fever, and alot of our plans were scrapped, and we stayed in the room an entire day)-- but we were more prepared, and had a terrific (and actually relaxing) vacation. Now we're getting ready to take our 4th trip in a year and a half (and believe it or not, it was my husband that had to talk ME into this trip-- I thought we should take a break and save some $$$$) A year isn't too long to wait though (after our first trip, at first, Joe wasn't going to go back again for 3 years-- I really had to use the fact that we already paid so much for the Annual pass to reluctantly get him there), that gives you time to plan, and then you can go back and hopefully you'll DH will love it on your next trip!!!! |

| Re: Remember Me? Thankyou, Dina! That makes me feel much better! We spent a whole day in the hotel, too - the last day we were both sick and it was raining non-stop and so we didn't even try to go to the parks. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. Enjoy your trip next week! |

| Re: Remember Me? Ok, I'll be honest. You're not being neurotic. We had some bumps on our last trip...we FROZE, so even though it looks like it's gonna be rainy on our upcoming trip, we're just psyched it won't be 35 degrees in the wind chill factor (knock on wood.) Plus, I was laid off 4 days before we left and the house we had just bought was totally coming apart which caused me to have nightmares and a giant anxiety attack. I kept it all hidden from DH, and he's ok with going this month, but he's DEMANDING that we plan a NON-Disney destination (i.e...no Disneyland, No DLP, and definitely no WDW) for our next big vacation (however, he does request that I book a DLC trip, so that's cool.) I don't think you're being neurotic at all..I know how disappointing it is when a trip you work so hard on doesn't live up to expectations. That's why I try not to imagine my experiences beforehand...I plan them, but I don't fantasize what they'll be like. Will your DH mind if you book a "surprise weekend" trip, or would that make him really mad? I'm like you...get the bad memories OUT and create some good ones!! | Re: Remember Me? Don't feel bad - we have had some less than magical times too. We all got sick on one trip when we were staying in the cabins at Ft Wilderness - felt like we were 100 miles from nowhere. We had another trip were DD got a stomach virus and it was not pretty - barfing all over the bed in the middle of the night and then waiting for housekeeping to come and clean it up. It was not pretty, but the good trip always out weigh the bad ones. Especially sickness issues - that would have probably happened pretty much anywhere you had gone. I say jump back on the horse and give it a try again. |

| Re: Remember Me? I'm so sorry to hear your trip was less than magical. It sounds like a lot of the things that happened though were out of your control - and even on the best vacations, we all have moments like that. |

| Re: Remember Me? Oh you are far from neurotic! Sorry that your trip wasn't as magical as planned but I think we all have had trips or moments within the trips that you wish you could just forget. On my honeymoon in 2000, my DH and I convinced our best man and Matron of honor to go as well since they had never had a honeymoon. Great idea at first but turned out not to be such a great idea. I didn't think we'd ever go back to WDW after that but he surprised me in 2001 with our 1 year anniversary trip which was SPECTACULAR!! |

| Re: Remember Me? I am sorry you had so many problems. I spent 2 days of my November trip sick so I know how you feel (I also had a BIG accident 2 days before leaving.). Just remember that not everything can go as planned and cartain things will be out of your control...I won't go into the disaster my 2nd trip (DH's 1st trip) was. I hope you next trip is magical! |
