Purple signs

http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...s/confused.gif Can anyone tell me why the guide and information signs on the hignways leading into the Walt Disney Complex are purple? I know that i have heard a true answer before but i have forgotten what it is. I have heard tons of rumors like "walt's favorite color was purple." etc.

If anyone can help i would appreciate it!
thanks

I can't answer that, but isn't it a nice change?!?! Maybe it's to let us know we're on property? Maybe they're easy to read?? http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...s/confused.gif http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...s/confused.gif

This is from the book "Be Our Guest: Perfecting the Art of Customer Service" that we got from WDW a couple of trips ago:

[ QUOTE ]
Many guests notice the unusual purple-and-red color scheme on the directional signs on the public roads in and around Walt Disney World. As an experiment, flags of different colors were once set out on the property and guests were asked which ones they remembered seeing. Purple and red were the colors they recalled most often.

That's a great book by the way! I think we got it at the Writer's Stop at MGM!

Re: Purple signs

When I was at "Traditions" they mentioned the signs were purple because it grabbed the attention of the travelers. they needed something bright and tested differnt collors and that purple was number 2 and red was number one. They did not use red besause of its also used for stop signs. They did not want to cause accidents so they went with purple.

I always find Disney facts like this one so fascinating. And I'm glad they're purple because that's my favorite color. http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...lins/smile.gif
