Ran the Chicago marathon on 10-10-10, yeah!! At the expo I stopped by the Disney booth and talked with them about the Everest Challenge. They said that 2010 was their first year. They said that registration hasn't begun for 2011 yet. It sounds like a great race - combination 5K, obstacle course and scavenger hunt. My family would really love to try it! Did anyone do it last year and could share their experience? And, has anyone heard anything about the 2011 date?

I was not able to do this in 2010, because we were leaving the following Monday for South Africa. I thought it sounded SO fun though!!! Unfortunately, it's the only race on the list at Run Disney that does not show 2011 dates. Hopefully they are just playing around with it (maybe it was too hot this year?) and will decide to have it in 2011. I have already told DH that if they have it again we definitely need to do it (and bring DS too - he will be 10 next May...this year you could be as young as 9, right?). I'd also love to hear from anyone that did it this year.

I emailed Disney about the date for this on the weekend. They said they would be releasing the date for the Challenge soon and keep checking the website. Since the reservation system is down for a few days, my guess is it will be up sometime after the system comes back online.

Hoping it's the same weekend as last year. We didn't do it in 2010 but if it's the same weekend, my mom and I will be at the World that exact weekend in 2011 and would both love to do this Challenge.

CONGRATS on the Chicago Marathon! The inaugural Everest Challenge was actually in September 2008. In 2009 it was also in September, but was partially rained out. This past year, it was moved to June. Though it was HOOOTTT, it was a great race. If you are accustomed to intense marathons, this will be a cake-walk. Many of the participants (myself included), seem to be there to enjoy all elements (Race, Obstacles, Scavenger Hunt and After Party). I am waiting to see if they move it to a cooler month, or continue to have it in the summer. Either way, I highly recommend participating.

I only plan to do it if they have it on the same weekend as last year as we already have a trip booked and partially paid for over that weekend.

Hey everyone, found a link to this on another board Volunteer: Expedition Everest Challenge presented by Champion

It's the volunteer site for runDisney's Expedition Everest Challenge 2011. It's got a countdown timer on it. Looks like if I'm reading it right, it should fall on the same weekend in June 2011 as this past June. So most likely the weekend of June 11, 2011. No guarantees of course as this is just a guess on my part going by the countdown ticker on the site.

If this is the case you can definitely count my mom and I in for this race as that's right in the middle of our vacation. Once Disney posts the official date, I'll let you know.

If they are going to be looking for volunteers for those dates for the Everest Challenge than it's a very good bet that those will be the dates. Still no official dates posted on the running side of the site. Will keep you posted though.
