So I finished my very first 5K in 33:07 yesterday! I was hoping for less than 40 minutes, so I am really happy with that. I walked about a 1/4 mile in the middle and ran the rest.
Congrats JuliB on your 8miles! Good for you! Your time is quite comparable to mine-I'm just happy when I finish those long runs. and congrats to "Luv2Laff" on your first 5k. That is a great time, I think I just got there with a 5k this summer and my first was last year!
I did just about 10 miles Sunday. It was supposed to be 11 but I had not run all week due to being sick and I was hurting. And we changed up our route and it was very hilly. The week before I did 10-when I was just coming down with the yuck I had, and I did well, just over 2hrs. Sucked on a cough drop and listened to my 2 running partners that day yak up a storm which kept me entertained. I have my first half Sunday and am very nervous after that run this past Sunday so we shall see. Not even sure when I can fit in short runs this week...yikes!

I am sure you will do great on your half marathon. You know the crowd gets you pumped and it gets easier.
I have not run since Friday....out of town for the weekend....sick yesterday.....tonight is halloween so it will not be happening again. hopefully tomorrow I can get back on track.
Great job everyone! I did a very difficult four mile run last week; I was just so tired and my legs were so sore. I did a half hour of yoga on the wii afterwards just to stretch them out because I felt so tight! Then I did a 10K with my DD12 and a friend. It was my DD's first one and she hasn't been training much, so she struggled a lot after mile 4. It was a great experience and my legs felt soooooo much better. I tell you, the race atmosphere really does make a huge difference in how you feel. I'm excited for some of you to find that out if you haven't already!
I've got two easy runs this week (3 miles each) but this weekend has me walking 8.5 miles on Sat (although I run a little bit just so can count it as a run on dailymile instead of a walk! ) and 20!!!! on Sunday. Goofy is only two months away!
20 miles...wow. Awesome! Not sure I will ever want to go there! Go Goofy girl! I definitely agree about races and crowds etc. I am looking forward to the Half. It's just that I am still so tired as I am not 100 percent since being sick. But will do a short run tomorrow & Friday with Half on sunday. Was supposed to go to fitness boot camp tonight but sometimes-when it's nice out-the instructor will work us hard outdoors with lots of leg work, sprints etc. It's to the point that it hurts for 2 sometimes 3) days and hard to sit on a toilet without wincing. I so do not want to feel that way for my runs this week! Happy running!
My DH and I were visiting my parents in Lauderdale last week and decided we need to sign up for a half marathon to motivate our (chubby) selves to get back into our training. We have run several half marathons over the past 5 years including(me) a Disney Princess Half.
Since we live in Indiana and the weather Jan-March is not always runner-friendly, we are considering some Florida races, the Miami ING half at the end of January or the Princess at the end of February. WDW Marathon weekend is too soon for us!
There is also the school schedule for our 2 kids to consider, they hate missing school now.
We just ran a Ghost and Goblin 5K last weekend and are following the Jeff Gallaway Princess Half program, just 3 runs per week and I am adding some yoga in between, DH has a weight trainer he works out with 2x/week. I am planning some princess- ike outfits in case we make it to the Disney Princess. I have found it is good to have a race planned to keep on track.
Just keep running!!

I am in week 4 of my Cto5K. I am ridiculously proud of myself for being able to run 5 whole minutes without stopping...twice! lol, 16 total minutes of running. Can't wait until I'm trying to better my time and not just trying not to pass out! So far it is going great. Hard, but totally doable.

Waay to go girl! Keep it up. I don't know that it ever gets easier....you just go faster! LOL
Congrats to everyone on their great strides!! I'm having a hard time right now and really freaking out! Haven't run since before I left for Disney on the 21st of October. I've been having some weird issue with my right leg where it feels like it is going to give out on me and it goes numb. My doctor thinks it s my sciatic nerve, but I've had sciatic nerve pain and it is nothing like that!! Honestly I've been afraid to run for fear my leg will give out and I will be far from home alone (I live in a very rural area!). Working all weekend, but need to get back to it ASAP!! My leg is feeling better today, so hopefully what ever it was has resolved. Guess I'll know after the next 2 long days at work on my feet. Feel like I'm starting from ground zero again though...

Sorry to hear you've been having trouble! You might have to run close to the house at first; run a mile away from it and the a mile back, just to see how leg holds up. Be sure to let us know how it goes!
I did my weekend long runs early, because it seems like I've hardly been home, between work and training, and my house shows it! Did 8.5 on Thursday and 17 yesterday. I was supposed to do 20, but I ran out of time (plus I really didn't want to!) The only thing that hurts today are my feet, and that's because I am in desperate need of new shoes!

Hope your leg is feeling better soon!! I know the feeling as I have sciatic nerve problems from a bulging disc that likes to flare up once in a while.
Did 9 miles this morning....cool and cloudy....perfect weather for running. Took me an hour and 46 minutes. I was very pleased in how strong I felt the whole way. I think the longer training runs (5-6 miles) during the week are finally starting to pay off!!
First Half tomorrow...yikes. Got two very short runs in this week...after a week of being sick...It looks like a gorgeous day for a run so I will be focusing on that!
