I am a nervous wreck LOL Tell me the fun things about this race. Tell me why I dont need to have a panic attack LOL I cant run I will be walking/jogging all of it. I am doing this because I am a 43 year old cancer survivor who has to prove this to herself LOL Thanks!!
Girl you are going thru the same things I did with the Wine and Dine!
I was scared and thought that there was no way that I could do it, and then kept questioning myself on what possessed me to sign up for it!
Then race day came, and I wasnt scared! I think I was more scared doing 5 and 10Ks than I was doing this! I think I was more in awe of seeing all these people that were here with me doing this! And then the fireworks went off for our corrall! Not once did I hear that little voice in my head saying I cant finish this, not once did I want to quit and park myself on the side of the course. There were tons of people around me that were making comments or yelling "Almost there we can do this!!" and "Never give up!!". IT WAS AWESOME!!! And honestly the miles did fly by, everytime we came to another mile marker, I couldnt believe it! Disney does a great job with the entertainment on the course...just enough. You have nothing to worry about, I did both...I ran and walked and I did my half just under three hours and there were some that finished in four! Dont question yourself, you can do this!!
Side note...If anyone knows the name of the band the performed at the Wine and Dine, could you let me know? Thanks.

Don't be nervous! I had only run 2 5Ks before deciding to run/walk this race. (Don't tell my mom, but I was looking for an excuse to go to Disney--this will be my last trip with her before I get married). I'll probably be in the last corral, so maybe we can be pace buddies
Ah the I am crazy voice...I know her very well LOL!! Trust me you wont regret it. Especially when you have your medal around your neck! Then you can tell that crazy voice where to go!

You have nothing to worry about! I did the princess 1/2 marathon race last year and it was my first race. Ever. No 5K's, nothing. It was a great experience! It is mostly women of ALL ages, shapes and sizes. Some run the whole thing, some walk the whole thing, and some do a combo of everything in between. Some people are in costumes or quasi-costumes. There are characters and music playing throughout the course - not to metion the amazing built-in Disney scenery! The race goes by so fast because you can see the huge mile markers at least 1/4 of a mile away, so the times goes pretty fast. All along people are talking and cheering each other on. It is an amazing experience and you have absolutely nothing to worry about, just be proud of your accomplishment!!! Good luck and HAVE FUN!!
Race day is hard to describe. The pre-race feeling on race day. The camaraderie of your fellow runners. The adreniline once the fireworks start (even when you're in the last corral - trust me!) Crossing that starting line! The entertainment along the way, not only provided for the race, but the unbeknowsnt entertainment provided by your fellow runners too! Snapping photos along the way, especially backstage at Magic Kingdom. And crossing that finish line, and getting that medal!!
It's OK to be nervous. But don't let it get your panties in a twist. There's really nothing to be nervous about. If you're follow your training program, and I know you will, then your body is fully prepared. It knows what to do. Races/running is 90% mental. So it's all in your head! Like Lindsay said in the above post, women of all shapes and sizes participate - and FINISH - these races! You will be inspired on race morning when you see some of the other women around you.
And there's no way, guaranteed, no way at all, that you will run down the wrong road and get lost. And to ensure you don't arrive late for the race, set your hotel alarm clock, set your phone alarm (if applicable), and ask for a wake-up call. Get a good nights sleep on that Friday prior if you can. You won't sleep well on Saturday night at all. So rest your body as best as you can on Friday, and Thursday too.
Once you finish the training, the rest is gravy. Your body will be prepared, and you'll be surprised how your thoughts will change as you start getting into the higher mileage. You'll finish 7 during training. Then 8. Even 10 miles, and you'll realize that you can go 3 more. 90% mental!! So start relaxing. You got this!!!

I was terrified before my first half marathon. Don't sell yourself short for only jogging/walking. I've done multiple half marathons and two marathons by run-walking. I couldn't do it otherwise!
Princess weekend is really fun. Great atmosphere, lots of interesting things to look at along the course. You may be thinking one-and-done with this race, but my guess is that you will most likely get hooked on RunDisney events and look for another one to do quite soon after you cross that finish line!

Summer 2013 pre-trip report here: So many celebrations!
Can't wait to get one of these!
I feel better reading this. I have recently started running in the last year and decided to do this with some friends. The friends are fast walkers, but I will be running so will be going it alone. I am training at a 14 min mile (walk/run) since I was sidelined by an injury this summer and don't want to reinjure myself. I have butterflies about running the race as well. It's just nice to know that I am not the only one feeling this way.
All I'm going to say is I am so jealous, but in a good way!! Don't be scared! I was signed up for the 1/2 marathon for this past January and had a stupid injury and had to pull out. So disappointing. I have been fighting with multiple issues since this time last year - the hip injury, auto-immune stuff, injury at work... but I will return! Anyway, my goal was to get a half marathon, and I will do one!! At best, 'running' for me is a half walk half run that I call "Ralking", and the goal is to do it!! You will feel so good on race day, you won't even think about being scared! So get out there and RALK!!
