<font color="blue"><u> The "Put Down Your Drink" Pre-Trip Report</u>
The title is fair warning to those of you gentle readers who have blamed Karen and me with ruining your keyboards. We can't help it if our collective karma means that wacky and hilarious things happen to us when we travel together... but we delight in relating them to our PassPorter friends in as wickedly sarcastic a fashion as possible! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img] So, I guess we'll have to accept some of the blame...
So, how is it that two women -- who only met 13 months ago -- have already spent three vacations together and plan on three more in the next half year?
Karen and I are convinced that our mothers have found their own little cloud in heaven (one fully stocked with cocktails and hunky angels) and are contriving to get the two of us together as much as work, children and the men in our lives allow!
The "moms" first worked their magic back in April/May of last year when Karen was suddenly given an opportunity to take a mad-dash trip to WDW for a conference -- thanks to, we're convinced, Karen's mom! She grabbed her son Zack and they headed for The World with my cell phone number in her pocket. I was going to WDW for a Grand Gathering (that came about on a whim from my new step-brother's family -- thus, <u>MY</u> mom's influence!) We arranged a last minute PassPorter meet and it was fabulous to meet each other at Fantasmic!
After we returned to our humdrum lives, the idea of Mousefest 2005 was proposed. We were so there!!
Then, my DH wins a major award for a ride he designed (again, my mom's helping hand was evident!) and we were given an opportunity to go to DisneyWHAT??!! Oh, DisneyLAND... (That TR is quickly coming to a close, if you want to catch up with our antics!)
Karen had hopped on a great price for flights East for Easter (thanks to HER mom) and bookended her trip with weekends at Chez Lloyd -- where we took in the historic sites of Philadelphia and enjoyed another one of Karen's deathmarches to sit in George Washington's church pew and find the oldest residential street in the nation. Phew!! I'm still tired from that one!
So, I must backtrack to early January of this year. I was bemoaning my decision to purchase an AP for Mousefest with the understanding that the big GG for my 40th would be happening in November of 2006. Well, my siblings threw a wrench into that plan with a vengeance. Suddenly, we were going in mid-December now and my AP would only see 5 days of use. What a waste.
Karen spent a sleepless night thinking about that and the fact that her cruise plans had to be adjusted due to her son's summer camp, etc.
I found a little private message in my inbox on 1/11... It started off with the phrase "Well, it's funny you should mention this..." and then segued into the phrase "So where do you come in?" I read the next few words suggesting we share a one-bedroom villa and all thoughts of reading the rest of Karen's PM went right out the window.
I replied instantly with "Whatever you are suggesting, the answer is YES!"
She was miffed that she spent all that time writing such a convincing PM if I was just going to gloss over it and blindly agree to anything!!
5 hours later, Karen had everything worked out, all reservations made and even a stack of ADRs confirmed.
