| A Magical Summer Sojourn to WDW Last Pre Trip Installment Update 6/26 Pre Trip Part One: First let me begin by emphatically saying that this Disney adventure was completely created by DH. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] He is a big Disney fan but does not usually feel the need to venture towards the House of Mouse as frequently as I do. So, this in itself is quite magical and amazing. The original plans were to show our boys and Kevan’s 12 year old brother Aaron the majesty of Washington, DC. Matthew’s first grade teacher really hit the President’s Day unit with full force so the kid had interest in Lincoln big time. Figuring we might be able to educate our kids about other Presidents, monuments and the like, we began considering a jaunt to Washington. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/questionicon.gif[/img] Just for kicks I put the DC area airports on my fare watcher and in April, it came up with a relatively decent hit so we decided to go. Hotels there, especially around most of the landmarks are pricey but we booked something close to the White House anyway. Kevan asked his mom if Aaron might like to go along and the answer was a definite yes! So with air, hotel and a few touring plans made, we thought everything was set. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/flag.gif[/img] Fast forward to my return from my May graduation trip to WDW. On my last day at the World, Lynn and I ventured to the Disney MGM Studios for a bit of Star Wars Weekends. Matthew and Kevan are huge SW fans so I took tons of video and photos to bring home. A few days later, I show it all off, in addition to the outstanding albeit quite embarassing video Lynn took of me (thanks buddy!) on Test Track complete with gutteral screaming (a bunch of you know about this). What happened next will live in the annals of Austin Disney history- for it was my dearest spouse not I who suggested this Disney summer sojourn. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/thewave.gif[/img] A transcript for your reading pleasure. This is basically how the whole conversation went. I was watching my beloved Frasier at the time so at first, I wasn’t paying much attention as you will see. I know, bad wife, but Kevan really oughta know better than to try and talk to me during Frasier- however, he does get my attention towards the end. DH: I want to go to Disney. Me: We are. DH: I know but that’s in December. There are no storm troopers in December. I can’t believe I missed that Star Wars weekend. Me: Oh. DH: I’m city-ed out. Me: Huh? DH: I think, I actually need a Disney fix. I want to go sooner than December. Me: We have DC – can’t do both. DH: I’m city-ed out. Are you listening to me? Do you hear what I am saying? Me: Are you suggesting we change DC to Disney? DH: I think I am!! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/woot.gif[/img] [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/woot.gif[/img] [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/woot.gif[/img] Okay, he’s got my attention. I proceed to fly off the couch and start doing some investigating. The only Star Wars weekend left was the last one just about 10 days away- and that would result in huge fees and fares to change our air. I was secretly worried that if Star Wars weekend was out then so was the possibility of Disney- but Kevan didn’t seem to mind at all. Quick phone call [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/phone.gif[/img] to MIL to ask if she minds if we switch the plans. Nope, no problem there. Although she asked why WDW when we are going in December? Silly, silly, woman. The conversion has been an ongoing struggle for several years now but I refuse to give up [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/shameonyou.gif[/img] - she will find the magic one day.
