| Re: Kiara\'s Not So Scary \"Surprise\" thread two Day two part 2 DTD Updated 10/23 I was a bit concerned about how we were going to find Grumpy as we left WOD, but my worries were soon calmed. There he was, right in front of us, sitting on a stool and preparing to give his skin over to a CM at the temporary tattoo booth. We approached him, he marveled at how beautiful his princess looked and wasted no time shooing us away to get her picture taken. When I asked him what tattoo he was getting his response was “You will just have to wait and see. Now go”. I laughed at him and told him we would meet him where the pictures would be taken. So off Kiara and I went in what I thought was the right direction. Now remember, I am at WDW, and my brain is not functioning at full capacity. I had a conversation with the Photopass CM at BBB about where to go, and since I had it in my mind where I needed to go, I not only didn’t think about it, I also didn’t listen! As she started to tell me where it was located I said “Oh yeah, I know where it is. It is in the scrapbook store.” She gave me a funny look and said “Well, yes that’s where it is, but the scrapbook store is now closed”. What???? How did I miss that? I didn’t read anything about World of Memories closing! Surly, someone on the boards would have posted about that. I remember thinking it must have just happened in the last few days if we PassPorters hadn’t know about it. So anyway, off Kiara and schlepped towards what had once been the WOM store. I was a tad bit disappointed that I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do some damage there, but figured I would pick up some goodies in the parks or at the resort gift shop. As we approached the merry go round, I beat Kiara to the punch and said “Latter” before she could ask for a ride. We entered the store and imagine my shock and delight when I saw it was filled with scrapbook supplies. Before I threw down the room key and began a shopping frenzy, I asked a CM where to take Kiara for her photo shoot. He pointed me in the direction I had just came from. He also stated there was a big sign out on the sidewalk in front of the store pointing to it. Back we went, and this time at a quickened pace as I knew Grumpy would be looking for us. Poor Kiara was forced to walk a bit faster than she would have and that was no easy feat in pixie shoes. We passed the merry go round again and again I muttered “Later” and was able to keep Kiara moving. Finally we had made our way almost back to the spot we should have been in and I spotted Grumpy. Sure enough, he had been on the look out for us and had wondered where we had gone. As I got closer to him, I saw the sign the CM was talking about. I explained to Grumpy what had happened and he pointed to the rather large sign that he was right next to and said “How did you miss that?” Now that I saw it, I must admit it was rather hard to miss. Grumpy then proudly displayed his new tattoo and I was so jealous! Since Tink is one of his favorite characters, I assumed he would be sporting one of her on his arm. But what he had was far better in my eyes. Done in black only, and airbrushed on, was a band of the animals on the AK signs. It wrapped about half way around his arm and actually looked real. It was so cool! And did I take a picture? No. Another WDW dork moment for me. But it looked like this: And if I wasn’t such a whimp, I would sooo get this tattoo for real. But I don’t look for that to happen any time soon! We made our way into the shop for Kiara’s photo shoot and I was thrilled at how well she did. The CM taking pictures did a wonderful job with her and we then proceeded to a monitor to pick out our shots. Grumpy and I were thrilled at how they turned out and knew a few grandma’s that would think they were the perfect souvenir from our trip. This is one of the other poses we selected. Hunger was getting the better of all of us, and since we were close and it was a place we had never tried, Earl of Sandwich was the winner of our free DDP counter service credits for the day. There were a few people in line but the crowd was not huge by any means. We placed our order, collected our drinks and desserts (all three of them) and went to find a table and wait for our number to be called. The only table open was one that was huge had seating for about twelve. When I suggested we sit outside, Grumpy stated this large table would be fine for the three of us. You know where this is going. I looked at him like he was nuts and I knew in the back of my mind we wouldn’t be alone there for long. But, he was adamant about not wanting to sit outside. Suit yourself, honey. Let the Biergarten flashback begin. Just as I was about to sit down, the number before ours was called and I decided I would just go wait near the counter. And I waited and waited and waited. No numbers were called. So I waited some more. And some more. As I waited, I realized a crowd was forming around me and decided to go back to the table and wait. Grumpy decided if he stood at the counter with all the other people, it might heighten our chances of getting our food before our ADR at Le Cellier that evening. So there he stood. And he waited and waited and waited. And while he was waiting, a lovely family of four, parents and two girls, looking for a place to sit, and being that there were no others available, politely asked if they could use the other end of our table. Ok, what do I say? “No, my husband has a horrible fear of eating with strangers and I don’t want him to run screaming from the building?” I don’t think so. I of course, told them it would be no problem. I mean, it really wasn’t a problem. For me. (I bet on days like this, Grumpy cusses the fact that he married me!) The two girls took notice of Kiara’s makeover and costume and immediately started talking to her and making over her. The older of the two was a Tink fan and was showing Kiara every item she had on her person with Tink on it. And she had a lot! They also compared pin collections. Kiara was having a ball with them, but we still had no food. Finally, I heard our number called and Grumpy returned to the table with lunch. It didn’t take me long to discover our new table mates were making him more uptight than a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers. Grumpy was clearly uncomfortable and refused to eat, stating he would take his sandwich back to the room and eat it there. Kiara, whose new friends had now moved back to the other end of the table, and I wasted no time digging in. As we ate, Grumpy told me several people who had been waiting demanded refunds. For counter service, it really was a painfully, long wait for food. Grumpy finally relaxed a bit and decided to eat at the table after all. Baby steps, baby steps. We finished our sandwiches, packed up our desserts (one large cookie, one bread pudding, and one white cake thing with gobs of frosting and sprinkles) bid the nice family at our table goodbye and headed out to do a few more things at DTD. Kiara had a date with the merry go round and I was in search of a potato. Up next: the rest of our day at DTD and a quick trip to MGM for a Power Ranger and Aerosmith fix! Dessert count in our refrigerator: while not officially there yet, the three acquired at Earl put us at five. |
