Re: An-Almost-Grand-Gathering-with-Mostly-First-Timers pre-trip report Today is the day for our Getting-ready-to-go-to-Disney party! I have invited my in-laws over, and we're going to do a Disneypalooza! Our local Kroger grocery store has a line of Disney food products, which sparked the idea about a month ago. DD5 and I went after church last Sunday, and purchased mickey-shaped cheese slices, mickey-shaped ravioli, Monsters, Inc. cookies, and break-and-bake choc chip cookies with Disney sprinkles. The rest of the items weren't shaped like anything Disney, just had Disney on the box, like Lion King ice cream bars. They had yogurt and waffles, too, but we're having dinner, so I didn't get them. They had jello, too, but with the cookies and ice cream bars, I thought we were set with dessert! I was going to get the mickey-shaped hamburger patties I saw a while ago, but couldn't find them, and when I asked, they said they have been discontinued. Guess I'll just have to make plain old hamburgers! Bummer! We're going to watch the promotional videos from this year and last year, maybe skim the Christmas Parade, watch the Animal Kingdom special I've had on my TIVO for about 6 months, and answer questions like "What are you looking forward to the most?" and "What are the Top 5 attractions that you want to visit?" I made the schedule, including parks and ADRs, but want everyone to have a say in what we do when we get there, so this will be a good chance for them to start their input! I've also invited my dad, who is a bachelor while my mom is in Florida. He's not going with us to WDW, but thought it would be fun to have him join us. I also bought matching red Mickey polo shirts for everyone, and a couple of things for my middle girls (Disney jackets and fanny packs) so I'll surprise them with those then, too. Should be fun! Less than a week until we go!

Re: An-Almost-Grand-Gathering-with-Mostly-First-Timers pre-trip report We had a great party! Food was yummy, videos were fun to watch, and we spent some time talking about our schedule and what things were priorities for each of us to see. Everyone loved their shirts! If we weren't excited before, we definitely are now! ![]()

Re: An-Almost-Grand-Gathering-with-Mostly-First-Timers pre-trip report updated 1/21 with final plans Forgot to mention that I'd been trying to fit Boma into our ADR schedule for several months, but just couldn't do it without cancelling something else. At our Disney party last night, my MIL mentioned AKL, and how neat it sounded. Well, this was the place that I was interested in staying when the subject of a trip to WDW was first brought up. It turned out that it would have been too expensive, having to get two rooms, one of them being a deluxe because we'd have 6 in a room... So I mentioned that I'd like to take the time to visit AKL on our trip. I was actually hoping that just dh and I could go, leaving the kids with the in-laws, but my MIL thought a trip to AKL sounded like a great idea! I made what I hope was my final call to Disney Dining today, booking us for breakfast at Boma on the day before we leave. That morning had been set aside for sleeping in and lounging around, but everybody seemed up for checking out AKL, so I booked it! We'll see how they feel next week, especially the girls, the morning after the Pirate & Princess party!

Your plans sounds wonderful! What great in-laws you have to offer to pay for your trip. You'll love the AKL and it's a great idea to have breakfast at Boma. I've heard so many great things about this restaurant.

| An-Almost-Grand-Gathering pre-trip UPDATED 2/5 Well, we're back, and I was considering changing the title of the trip report to the "Almost nothing went as planned" trip! We had a good time, but there were some bumps in the road. There was also a surprise Passporter meet! I'll be back with more later! Here's a photo to get you started! ![]()
