| The trip ended so horribly that I can't think about it much more. The cast of characters: Me, DH, DD, DS, DSIL(K), DBIL(S), DSIL(M), MIL, FIL, BIL(T) You may notice that some are missing the "Dear" prefix. Location: OKW. We had a 2Bdrm and a Studio. MIL, FIL and DSIL(M) stayed in the studio. From Friday, 6/15 until Wednesday night, 6/20, the trip was fine. MIL made the typical comments about my parenting, but I could deal with that. It's what happened on Thursday, 6/21 that I'm still steaming over. DS (who's seven) found a BONG on the floor of the living room where BIL(T) was staying. DSIL(K) and DBIL(S) took DSIL(M) and kids for a walk when MIL, FIL and BIL(T) arrived from Epcot. It was about 11 am. DH and I confronted BIL(T) about this and he accused us of going through his things. As if I don't have better things to do All this and I haven't even included the verbal attack by BIL(T) at the airport the next morning. Anyhow, we are no longer going to see BIL(T) and he is not allowed to see our children until he's clean. Unfortunately, that even means holidays, and MIL lives for having the fam together at Christmas. He graduated from college a week before we left, but I don't think he'll ever be clean and I don't think he'll ever be employed in a professional job because he can't stop smoking pot long enough to go on vacation, let alone to pass a drug test. So it looks like he'll be sitting on the in-laws' couch until he's forty and wondering where his life went. So now, because I took a stand for my beliefs, my in-laws believe I'm public enemy number one. At least DH is public enemy number two. Sorry it's such a downer, but I needed to vent. Thanks!

| So sorry Your kids and their protection come first. Anyone over 18 shouldn't be standing behind mommy and daddy to stick up for his marijuana use. If he needs the pot for his bi-polar than he should concetrate on recovery instead of running around WDW with a bong. Do your in-laws care that your young kids found their adult son's bong? Don't feel guilty about anything. Be proud of yourself that you are your children's protector. Last edited by nashfaw; 06-28-2007 at 08:17 AM. |

| I am SO proud of you for standing up for what's right. You absolutely did the right thing. Kudos to you! And he may hate you for the moment, but some day (hopefully) he'll come around and realize that you aren't a (well, you know)... Good job! And really, really sorry it put such a damper on your trip.

| I'm sorry you had a rough time of it...but you are totally right in being upset over the bong issue and if MIL & FIL can't understand that then chances are they'll always have rose-colored glasses on when they look at their younger son. Stick to your beliefs!

| my next door neighbors smoke pot and i hate it. we can't even go outside on the back porch in the evenings (our houses are really close). we think it's made our dog sick. we've complained about it very loudly, so hopefully they've heard. FORTUNATELY, the neighbors are moving out as i'm typing this. apparently they've heard us. or been kicked out because they rent... anyways, good riddence! good for you for sticking up for yourself and your kids!

| for you my dear, I you for standing up to them and sticking to your beliefs. You are a much better person and better off without the BIL and his drama. that MIL and FIL will wake up and see that they are wrong to support him. You stand your ground, you are right no matter what! Never, never, never, never give up. Winston Churchill ![]()

| I am sorry this incident put a damper on your trp. You need to put your kids health and safety first and it sounds like that is exactly what you did. It must not have been easy for you or DH. danielle

| You absolutely did the righ tthing. YOu have no reason to feel any guilt whatsoever because you won't be getting together with the family at holidays. YOur children come first and their best interest is to stay away from influences like that. Hopefully your in laws will realize this and will then take steps to get your BIL some hel. |
