I guess you could say this trip has been in the planning stages for about 2-years now .

I tried to plan a trip for May 06 and Oct 06 but it just didn’t workout.

My last trip was in May 2004 with a stay at the Polynesian Resort. With trip in May of 1998 - Contemporary; 1999- Coronado Springs; 2000 - Wilderness Lodge; 2001 - Polynesian; October 2002 Wilderness Lodge. Hmmmm see a pattern forming here.


05/5/07 - I decided that I wasn’t going to wait any longer for a trip to WDW, so I jumped on the computer to see what I could find. (6 am ).

I knew that I had frequent flyer miles for USAir and I was able to book a flight on the date I wanted and pretty much at the times but the only downer is I will need to change planes twice going south and twice-heading north. Southbound is Erie – Pittsburgh – Washington (Reagan) then Orlando leaving around 4:30 arriving around 10:15 pm. Northbound is Orlando – Charlotte – Pittsburgh – Erie leaving around 10:30 am arriving around 4 pm. I’m lucky and only live about 20 minutes from the airport.

Booked a room at Wilderness Lodge asked for Courtyard view hopping for something down the wing but close to the main lobby but who knows. Got a 5-day Magic Your Way Ticket with Park Hopper Option, and the Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining. Next step is to figure out where to eat and when.

07/12/07 – 90 days out make ADR;s .

08/26/07 – 47 days out make final payment.

10/10/07 Plans for that day – Work till 1 pm got home and do final packing etc leave for airport around 2:30 pm – arrive Orlando 10:15.

Trip Date Oct 10 – 16 2007

After spending a couple of weeks (on & off) watching the flight I’m scheduled out of Erie for I decided to see if I could find an earlier flight. The 4:25 pm flight always seams to be late leaving and I really didn’t have a lot of leeway when it came to my connecting flights. I was afraid that I would miss one and then get into orlando really, really late.

After searching the Usairway’s website, I found a flight that leaves at 12:50 pm (new to our flight schedule). This flight goes first to Pittsburgh and then to charlotte, arriving in Orlando at 7:45 pm (much better then 10:45).

I have just under a 2-hour layover in Pittsburgh (can drive there in 2-1/2) and a little over and hour in Charlotte. My return flight didn’t change. Hopefully my flights are set and I don’t need to make any other changes.

Made some minor adjustments to my meals, nothing major. I do have a 7:30 am adr for 10-16 at Whispering Canyon but will most likely have to cancel that seating I’m sure I’ll need to be on the M/E bus heading back to the airport at that time.

I think i’ll try and schedule a “dinner show” for Saturday night. That will use up two TS credits and i wont have any left to use on Tuesday. The rest of my meal will be counter service or snacks. If i run out of credit along the way, I’ll just fork over the dough if it’s something i really want.

60-days out, called and made my final payment today, did so, so I can get it paid off in September instead of October.

Also, made my M/E reservation. USAir is not a participating airline in M/E but I’m only taking a carryon so having a bunch of luggage that needs to go hotel is not an issue.

Had the TA @ Disney a bit confused, it seams that when you make a reservation through AAA it has all your dates, requests and etc, but doesn’t have your name. All the travel papers from Disney got to AAA travel who in turn mail the to you.

IS IT TOO EARLY TO START PACKING?

Your plans are shaping up. USAir not being participating only comes into play on the return flight and checking your luggage at the resort. You can use the DME for any flight incoming or outgoing.
