Day 4 and 5 (my last day at WDW) of My Birthday Trip

First let me apologize for not posting my last entry in awhile, but I am in the middle of moving and I just now have time to finish.

So on with the trip report…

Day 4:

My last full day at Disney! I am a little sad but at the same time I am ready to go home. I know I will be back in January and again in May but this is the first time I have the “I am ready to go home” feeling.

My goal for the morning was for mom and me to go to Magic Kingdom and ride Haunted Mansion. I was so excited to know that the ride would be “opening” while I was there. I wanted to get their when the park opened but that did not happen. While waiting for the monorail at the hotel we were told that the Purple Line was having some trouble and it would be a bit of a wait. I didn’t want to walk since it was so hot so we waited. Oh we waited for about 20 minutes. The line that came was the Green Line. So we got on and it seemed like it took forever to get to the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian. But as we were waiting at the GF we knew there were more problems. We waited for about 20min.
When we finally started moving ½ ways between the GF and Magic Kingdom we got stopped again for problems. The lady next to me started panicking and saying her rosary and praying to god that we don’t die. By the time we finally got to Magic Kingdom it took us about 1 hour and 15min. I was hoping to have breakfast at Main Street Bakery but by the time we got there the line was out the door and not moving. So I did the next best thing. I went to the candy store and got a Mickey Mouse head rice kripsy treat. That is the first time I ever had one and boy was it good.

Ok on to Haunted Mansion. The line was really long but because we are passholders there was another line. We got in with only a 5 minute wait. For those that have not seen it yet I will not spoil it but I will say I loved it!!! Mom and I could still smell the new paint and the new wood smells. It is darker in my opinion, they added an attic scene (love it) and I love Madam Leotta’s (I know spelled wrong) new head. I can not wait to ride again in January.

After we were able to catch the show in front of the castle and then headed back to the hotel to pack and get ready to go to Epcot.

After packing we headed to Epcot around 2 or 2:30pm. We were eating dinner at Le Celliar Steakhouse in Canada as our “last meal” at Disney. We got to Epcot and walked for a bit but it was really too hot and I didn’t want to get all sweaty or anything before dinner so we sat by Canada and people watched. That is fun to do sometimes. While waiting we saw the bears from Brother Bear. About 30 minutes before our reservation we went to check in and sit by the restaurant.

As we were waiting my mom & I along with another couple saw what till this day I talk about. The mom of the third family waiting (3 kids ranging from 4 to 10 years old) was discipline her 6 year old and told him that if he didn’t behave then she would have to call Bertha. Now we all looked at each other and probably thought the same thing, who’s Bertha? Well we found out. When the son said no the mom told him that no she would have to call Bertha and tell her to come pick him up and take him to a new family to get a new mommy because she didn’t want him anymore. Now can someone please tell me how that is supposed to help discipline a child? My mom and I could not believe she said that. I will say this; the kid looked very tired and hungry and was not really doing anything bad for what I could see.

Ok we got seated and we had a great waiter, I wish I could remember his name. Our waiter asked if we were on the Dinning Plan, and told him no. He then tells us that we are the only ones that night that weren’t. He asked if we wanted any appetizers and I told him no, I was saving room for dessert because I planned my dinner around it. Well he made a note of what I wanted fro dessert, the Crème Brule sampler. Mom and I had the filet mignon with cream cheese mashed potatoes. The honey bbq sauce for the filet was served on the side. The dinner was so good and the steak…tender could cut the steak with a fork. Yummy!!!

After we were done we were waiting fro about 15 minutes and our waiter come out and told us that the kitchen was a little backed up and apologized for the delay in our desserts. That was fine we were enjoying talking to the table to the left and right of us. We were all waiting. About 5 minutes later the waiter comes from behind me and puts a plate in front of me that shocked me. Mom and arranged for a special dessert. The plate had Happy Birthday written in chocolate, in the middle of the plate was a chocolate cup filled with chocolate gnash, chocolate shavings and raspberry puree lines. I was in shock for many reasons, that mom kept a secret and two the chef did this. It was sooo good and so yummy. I ate the chocolate gnash and part of the chocolate cup. Well to my amazement after the waiter brought mom and I the Crème Brule sampler that we ordered in the beginning. Two of my favorite desserts in one night. The Crème Brulee was so good. You get a vanilla and a maple Crème Brule. I love the maple and mom loves the vanilla.

After dinner we were going to wait around for the fireworks but it was still really hot. The kind of hot that comes off the ground. I told mom that I actually would like to watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom from the room. That night was the first night of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and I really wanted to see the fireworks.

While on the monorail we saw many families in costume heading towards the Halloween party. Once we got back to the hotel we finished packing and got all comfy t watch the fireworks. While waiting I heard a noise, a ping ping sound. Imagine my surprise when I looked out the patio to see it pitch black out, pouring and lightening. I really felt sorry for those at the party. While waiting for the fireworks we both fell asleep. I remember my mom walking me at around 11ish telling me to look out the window. All I remember seeing were 2 orange fireworks going off.

Saturday we got ready and checked out (as close to 11am as I could) and had the hotel store our luggage. We were going to go back to Magic Kingdom but it really was just too hot. So we rode over to the Grand Floridian and we staid in the lobby in one of those comfy chairs. We had lunch and just relaxed before heading back to the hotel to pick up the Magical Express.

As I said before I was ready to go home. Maybe it is because I was able to spend my birthday the way I wanted, do what I wanted and eat what I want. This really was a great birthday all the bad that happened (and I did not write about most of it) was out weighed by the good. Mom and I had a great time together we even know were we want to go next year…Pigeon Forge, Tennessee but in the month of October to celebrate Harvest Fest. In about 3 months I will be back again and in about 7 months back again. I now get to plan the surprise trip in May for my niece. She does not know I am taking her. Hmm wonder how many clues I can come up with without her guessing too soon?
