| September 12, 2007 Day 3 part 2 We made the U-turn to get to the AK parking lot and waved our Hotel guest pass and headed into the HUGE parking lot. We followed the blue line to handicap accessible parking and found a place right up front which in Disney speak is still a 2 mile walk to the ticket turnstiles! But it beats having to park out in no man’s land! We gathered our belongings and watched our step as we exited the Munchkin and headed towards the front of the park. It wasn’t overly hot yet but we could tell that it wasn’t going to be a cool day what-so-ever! We made our way through security and as we were heading to the gates Rafiki and Stanley came out for autographs. We were first in line for Rafiki so we signed autographs and went to take a photo and….. Nothing…try again…nothing. The batteries (which we had just put in the night before and took about maybe 10 photos with) were dead! We made our way to Africa (now I know you are saying but Amy Everest long lines etc..but don’t get ahead of me) and asked the Cast Member where we should go to load with our ECV’s he directed us in the right direction and we waited about 10 minutes before getting into our Safari vehicle with about 10 other guests who were all using scooters or chairs to get around as you are able to bring your scooter or chair to the loading zone but its off to the side from the rest of the loading docks. We got loaded in and were put in the middle of the safari car. A family tried to push their way ahead of us to get the last row but we didn’t care (we did that once, not the best seats for those with back issues, or any kind of medical concern!) they realized half way through why we let them have the seats sorry but you learned the hard way! The driver we had was very nice and seemed to have waited forever to leave the depot while after everyone was in and the gates closed but we went on our way but I noticed there was not one single safari truck behind us or in front of us which usually doesn’t happen but thought maybe I was just imagining it. Well as we went around the corner we noticed we were all alone. Seems our ride vehicle was a YOAMD’s winner and we got our own private safari ride they had held traffic up enough that we had all the animal viewing areas to ourselves and she had time to stop and talk more about each animal! It was sooooooo COOL!!!! We got to see rhino’s fight each other, giraffes trying to use trees to cover themselves ![]() Here are some photos (which weren’t as many as I wanted but my stoop-id camera ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That was one of the best safaris we have taken and we were so happy that we had won a dream that we didn’t care if we waited for the rest of the day for Everest we knew we had made the best choice! (one of the giraffes had gotten a branch stuck on its back) and all the animals were so close to the truck it was AWESOME!! Up Next.. Yeti’s, Dory’s and Dino’s OH MY!
