DAY 7 – Monday, January 14th
We eat breakfast, finish packing and are checked out by 9:00. We take our luggage to the Airline Resort Check-in and get our boarding passes there as well. The hotel stows our carry-on bags and we are soon on our way to Richard Petty Driving Experience. We have to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, and take the monorail to the TTC. From there, we walk down to the kennel and get a shuttle van to the racetrack. Whew! We arrive a little before 10:00, and Jeff checks in at the desk and puts on a jumpsuit. Then we all go outside to wait for his car.



Soon, he gets a helmet on and climbs into the car. They buckle him all in and the car takes off around the track! Katie takes some video, Liz and I take a few pictures, and before we know it they are pulling up to the pit. Three laps are over in no time! Jeff said the car was going 140 mph and he had to really fight to stay sitting straight! Way Cool! Afterwards, Jeff finally spends some of his souvenir money and buys a Richard Petty long sleeve t-shirt! Then we’re on our way back to the TTC. We are going to spend the rest of our day at DTD. We talk to one of the CMs in the area and find out it’s faster to take the monorail to the Polynesian Resort and from there take a bus to DTD. When we see the line of people waiting for the monorail to the Magic Kingdom we understand why! When we arrive in DTD, we decide to stop for lunch at the Earl of Sandwich before it gets too crowded. There are so many choices for sandwiches, wraps and salads! Jeff decides on the Earl’s Club, Tom gets the Beef n Blue, I get the Original 1762, Liz has the Caribbean Jerk Chicken and, Katie chooses the Cobb Salad Wrap. Liz and Kate split a Mocha Smoothie, Tom has chocolate milk and Jeff and I each get a soda. We also get a bag of chips to share. The total bill is $41.43. Most everyone enjoys their meal. Katie is disappointed because there is so much lettuce in the wrap and the cheese is in huge chunks. She ends up taking it apart and eating it like a salad. After lunch, we split up and do some shopping.



Jeff and I take a walk down to see the Lego sculptures, then go to The World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, Team Mickey, and Mickey’s Pantry. Liz, Katie and Tom stop at Arribas Brothers, Pooh Corner, Mickey’s Mart, World of Disney, and then head to Pleasure Island to go to the Harley Store. We meet up around 1:00 and head for Ghirardelli’s to get some ice cream. I get a mint chip cone, Liz and Kate split a dish of strawberry cheesecake ice cream, and Jeff has cookies and cream ice cream in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. YUM! Total is $11.56. It’s time to head back to the resort, so we make our way to the bus stop. It’s a long wait and there are quite a few people by the time we get on. At the Pleasure Island stop, we wait for a really long time and aren’t really sure why. There is one lady on the bus who keeps yelling out “We’ve got a plane to catch!” Then a new bus driver gets on the bus and we realize they were switching drivers. We get back to the resort and get our carry-on luggage. I head for the gift shop to buy a newspaper for the plane. While I’m waiting to pay the lady on the bus who was fussing because she had a plane to catch was running around like a crazy woman buying souvenirs for a huge list of people. She almost knocked me over at one point because she wasn’t looking where she was going! I just had to chuckle about that. Soon the Magical Express coach arrives and we are on our way…almost. There is some confusion between the driver and dispatch, and we make several trips to All Star Sports without picking anyone up. Then we stop at Coronado Springs. There is a huge crowd of people out front waiting for a bus and it is obvious that they will not all fit on our bus. Some of them get on (after loading luggage) and we are finally on our way. There’s no need to worry really, we have plenty of time to spare. On the way to the airport we watch a cute little Disney video starring Mickey and all his friends…they all hope that we had a great time at Walt Disney World. It is a little sad when they start singing…M…I…C…See you real soon…K…E…Y…why? Because we like you! Anyway, it makes the ride to the airport seem shorter. At the airport we go through security, get some food, find a table and relax for a while before heading down to our gate. By the time we get to the gate, we only wait for a few minutes and it’s time to board the flight. We change planes in Atlanta and are in Buffalo by 10:00pm. We have to wait for a long time for our luggage, but luckily everything made it back to Buffalo. My Mom and Dad are there soon to pick us up and Liz’s boyfriend Pat is right behind them to get Liz. It was a fantastic trip but we’re glad to be home!

The best thing today was…watching Dad do the Richard Petty Driving Experience
The funniest thing today was…the stuffed husky dog with the Harley hat that Liz bought for Pat
Today we tried…Resort Airline Check-in
And the result was…very efficient and convenient – nice that we didn’t have to worry about our luggage.
The most magical moment today was…the video on the bus with Mickey saying he’d see us real soon!
